Ola!

I've booked an Easy Jet flight in November and as I didn't have a snowboard then, I added a hold bag. Now I do, I was wondering if I could swap the hold bag for a sports equipment bag (hold bags and sports bags cost the same at the same when booking online).

I did email their help department but the reply was "they couldn't help me and I'd have to call their premium rate number and ask".

Anyone know if you can do this before I resort to spending my life's savings on one phone call? You can add baggage for free, but I can't see anything about removing baggage. It's no biggy if I can't as I can always 'demo' boards whilst I'm out there for free, just it be nice to use my own board on my first snowboard trip.

I would be both impressed and surprised if sleazyjet let you make that change. We call them sleazyjet for a reason, as evidenced by the fact you have to call a premium rate phone line not necessarily to make a change, but just to find out if the change is even possible Smile

i think they wil to let you change it...for a cost! the best way to ring easyjet is from a work phone Wink or just take the risk and see if they clobber you at the airport

Try this number...01582 525422

I can't remember where I got it, but going by the dialling code, I don't think it's a premium rate.

The 01582 codes the general dialling code for Luton, so it's probably EasyJets offices there...

Worth having a look for an alternative number on this website before calling a premium rate number. http://saynoto0870.com/

I use it everytime now.

easyJet charge for everything. All changes, no matter how small will come with a fee. I'm surprised they don't charge you for changing time the way they manage their pricing structure!

easyJet are also pretty militant on baggage weight so it will no doubt be cheaper to add a snowboard bag than to pay for extra weight if that snowboard bag happens to be a kilo or two over.

You could be really, really good at packing light and be just fine with one bag, but that's not a concept I really understand.... Embarassed

^ In my experience, Easyjet don't tend to bother to weigh snowboard bags whenever I've flown with them.

Your snowboard bag isn't going on the conveyor like normal hold luggage, so it's not getting weighed there at the desk. Usually they just give you the baggage sticker, or come around and put it on. Then they send you off to oversized baggage, where it will get weighed before being put on the conveyor. However, those are airport staff, not Easyjet staff, so they aren't going to care that you are over the weight limit, provided you are under the legal weight carrying limit of 32KGs.

Was true until this year, my board bag was weighed twice this year with EasyJet and a friend had to remove some gear to make the weight.

I'd have to agree with that. On four flights (should of been 6, dang ash cloud ruining an end of season Morzine trip) with snowboard equipment last Winter using easyjet and no issues at all. Over the 32kg (total baggage) limit every time , and one more so cause it had a lot of wet gear in it.

Thanks Sam but that number didn't ring, found another 0870 number which I was told is cheaper than 0871 and gave them a call, apparently the bags are non-refundable...which is probably bullshit but never mind. I've got a plan B.

At Birmingham, where we fly from, easyJet have always made us put the board bags on the weighy thing at check in, give us the sticker and then we take it round to the oversize baggage. I've gone out twice knowingly overweight and they've not mentioned it. I've then been caught on the return leg where they've charged. Once I talked my way out of it the other I paid up.

The very last time I took a boardbag on easyJet they weighed it at Birmingham and I got charged a heap. I ended up wearing both snowboard coats and 3 hoodies on the flight and putting all my body armour in my hand luggage. Very Happy I was still overweight and still had to pay about £40!!

Nobody say I take too much stuff with me on holiday. I'm not listening. Smile

Never had my easyjet board bag weighed on about thirty flights, luck of the draw probably maybe they're meaner in brum than in London!
