I used to subscribe to WL a year or so ago but then Factory Media took two years worth of payment by direct debit in the space of 5 months and caused me no end of financial trouble as it took me over my overdraft. Don't subscribe now out of principle.
Not sure if that breaches any guidelines for the forum but it actually happened. |

Ed Blomfield says "First issue is dropping 24th September, bit earlier for subscribers most likely."
We're also double-checking they're geared up for the SCUK discount. |

| That's good news. We've had problems before, but TBH that was when they became part of Factory Media. |

Well the girl that sorted out my subscription on the phone obviously wasn't a snowboarder (she didn't get the summer break in issues .. until I explained ) and the charge is due to come out of my account in 10 days or so, so if the cash disappears I'll trust she did it right and wait for the hefty thud at the end of Sept as the first issue of the season lands on the door mat |

Sorted my WL subscription today, girl on the phone found the deal for SCUK but insisted I didn't get the welcome pack - that's a different offer. Eventually I just gave up saying she was wrong and will email WL separately.
I hope you don't get the same person I did

Hey fatsuperman ... that sounds sh!t No the girl I spoke to was easily confused (first she tried to cancel my subscription and it took a couple of goes at explaining for her to get what I wanted to do and why there was a 6 month gap between issues) but she eventually got it and put through the discount and asked me what size T I wanted so the welcome pack is all sorted too. Try calling again and talking to someone else, if you get messed about on the phone just ask to speak to their supervisor, that usually works |

I've called them back and double-checked a few things.
Firstly, because I paid up front by debit card, they charged me £36.50 (not they amount they quoted yesterday!) This is about £10 more expensive than direct debit (somewhat bewildering). Also, they reiterated that the SCUK offer does not include the welcome pack, I pointed out it wasn't any different to the standard deal, it's just an EXTRA DISCOUNT of 10%.
They finally agreed and are refunding my money (by cheque - lame) and I am setting up by DD and will get a welcome pack. Except that they can't do it today as they are out of stock of the tshirts - and they can't backorder anything. My account has been put on hold for the time being and I need to call back in a couple of days and check on the stock situation.
A quality set up all round I feel. I never cease to be amazed by the ineptitude of some companies. A toddler could create a better process than they are using.
God help them if someone invents a way of stabbing people over the phone.

as an idea...
why not order online which lists the free pack (even after the SCUK code has been used) - therefore you have written proof on the email receipt of not only the scuk price but also the desired welcome pack. Just a thought... |

| Last year I had to totally give up on the idea of getting them to add a SCUK discount because it was like getting blood out of a stone. And then it took 3 months for me to receive anything. It is alleged that they have extended my subscription to make up for the issues I never got, we shall see if my first one of the season arrives! |
