| I know I don't come here so often nemore, so maybe my memory is palying tricks...but the message body section seems to have shrunk to a silly narrow area, and the left hand banner, recent headlines, post headline etc seems to have grown to take over half the screen? Somat up with the css dude? |

| Just a few tweaks. You can always maximise the forum if you can't handle the loss of about 100 pixels. |

have to agree with tib, it's suddenly a lot worse...
The "ancillary" info on the side is now nearing 1/3 of the page, and I can tell you it's not 1/3 as interesting...
know I'm a weirdo on Opera but had to load up IE to check and it's the same Sure you can maximise the forum, but it does widen the forum area (trying to get a screen-grab but lost my ftp info, give me 2mins) |

http://www.dereksdontrun.com/snow/scuk_1.jpg (dont dare embed)
^ how it looks maximised on my 24" monitor (1920x1200 res) - can't say it's not widescreen enough... (same dimensions on IE and Opera)
tbh tho - 99% of time use a window taking up about 1/2 -> 2/3 the width of the screen with an avi or whatever running on the rest of the screen, so really dont want to have to maximise everything.
understand a need to get revenue from adds and a desire for possibly easier php-bb block-dimensions, but at the end of the day, (dare I say it) we're here for the forum and surely that should take priority - making it as easy to read as possible and maximising its "real estate" (ewww, buzz-words) should be paramount.
bah-humbug to change (unless it's SCUK2, but if that's like this then, erm, *head in sand*)
(oh, and soz for the moan - cos I know you're doing things with the best intention of improving the site) |

Depends what you mean by 'can't handle'. there's a lot of picture threads where people have carefully re-sized their photo's to fit the available space...now it's 100 pixels less and suddenly scrollbars appear. These threads have been going for years and all of a sudden they're screwed. |

Actually I just had a look and it seems to be random how it screws them up. Some it puts scrollbars
http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/PNphpBB2 ... -3105.html
Others it seems to squish or crop?
Whatever, all these old photo threads are well screwed now. |

Love the instructions from the mods in the Inn sticky about posting pictures:
"When posting up pics, please can you ensure that they're approximately 640x480 (pixels) or smaller... "
640 wide? What space is there now, about 300? |

People don't like change. I can't wait for SCUK2 as it will be completely different functionality and will take a while to get used to. People will hate it
This is a precursor to SCUK2 though, which uses the 960 grid system, meaning the forum will be 620 pixels wide, pretty much how it is now. We may tweak the layout though to make the Author section less wide.
I much prefer the wider recent news/community sections.
We could certainly run a script periodically to resize any forum pictures. I'll look into that. |
