How about adding some calendars to the SCUK website, say 1 for each dome/slope then guys could post what day/noght and time they are ridin at a particular slope.
This way people can meet up and maybe even bump into people they don't recognise at the slopes, but have chatted with on here. |

It's a good idea though, Ardkor. |

As well as the main calendars on SCUK, there are already calendars for each slope:
www.snowboardclub.co.uk/slopes-hemeli-page-events.html
As yet, people can't create their own events, but it is one thing we may add for SCUK2, which is coming along nicely you'll be glad to hear.
What sort of functionality are you after though? Something to call upon fellow SCUKers to attend a significant gathering or something to just let people know you'll be somewhere at a particular time? We've considered the former, but the latter just seems a bit overkill.
People will be able to say whether they intend to go to any event that is on the calendar too, a bit like on Facebook, but with electric shocks if you don't actually turn up. |

| I know it's been said before, but an iCal would be handy. So people can post meetings, events, etc and if you subscribe to the slope's calendar then it would appear automagically. |

| or have slope-specific groups? each user can choose to join each slope group and when a meeting/event is created for that slope then everyone in the group gets an email notification... Prevents having to wade through the calender for events only happening at your local dome. |

| some good suggestions there, definately needs to be user updateable, but not neccesarily formal meet ups, i was thinking more like, people post what time they are going, then you can look out for people who are going to be there at the same time, as well as allowing more formal events to attend. |

The main aim for SCUK2 is to get people to the information they want more easily. To that end you can sign up to a slope (or event) and get fed related info (events, news, forum threads, etc.) direct to your shiny new profile page, much like FB does for keeping you up-to-date with your friends.
It's also why we're staying clear of "friends" on SCUK2. FB does it already.
Still not sure on user generated events though. May be something we give to members only perhaps, else I'm just a little worried about parties abusing it. |

never really bothered with calenders etc unless my cr@ppy work based novell one
but just booked some flights for monday, and BA offer you the flight booking info to download as an .ics type file that you can then drag into ical, or use in all the other calenders from the look of things
i could see the benefit of an .ics being made available for every event in the events calender that can then be downloaded as users like
i'm sure there's some plugins/scripts available to make it automatic with the event creation interface... in fact i'm off to search wp.org for a plugin for the site i'm building haha |
