Hello, am in the market for a new board and am weighing up the Salomon Answer against the Burton Custom.
Has anyone ridden the answer? I have previously owned Burton Supermodel and Supermodel X finding the X a little too stiff.
I mostly freeride but want a board capable of a bit of everything, its just the Customs price tag puts me off a bit.
Any suggestions welcome!

Sorry, this sounds like yet another 'I own an Xxxxx, therefore it must be great' post, but picked up a Custom v-rocker in the sales.
Have to say, I think it's absolutely phenomenal and I'm completely in love! Couldn't recommend it enough, and appearing at some cracking prices on 'popular web-based auction sites'. |

I've got an Answer and i think its a great board! lol
but to go further then then general i have an ****** and its great...
The Answer is a great allmountain freestyle board! it very fast as it has Salomons ski-racing base technology, its made from Bamboo instead of wood which is better for the environment, and its gives it great pop,
its a tapered twin shape to the tail is slighty narrower so it floats well in powder!
I ride it for everything!
Plus everybody has customs, you should go for something different! |

| cheers for the feedback ROBster, customs are common your right, I've always bought Burton in the past but the cost of them just seems to go up and up. |

I'd never ridden one either. Had it out for the weekend for the first time, and I was hugely impressed.
It absolutely loves powder, no doubt about it, and just absolutely floats - it felt really at home there. Had a couple of runs where I was the only one on the piste and it just felt beautiful.
Was delighted with it on harder snow too, particularly as I'd read that rockers can tend to lose their edge on harder snow at speed. Had a couple of experiences of that, though I'd hold my hands up and say that almost certainly had far more to do with my technique than the board.
Was certainly nowhere near as much of that problem as I'd been led to believe, but then the Custom V is nowhere near as much of a 'banana' as some boards.
Main things I noticed - smacked of absolute quality from the off, feels like a Ferrari after my last board, very light - it's like an eager puppy that wants to jump around a lot, and turning is probably the major thing for me - it's an exceptionally easy board to turn, at far, far higher speeds than I'd have been managing on my old 'un. Also feels a lot lighter than last year's Custom.
Definitely take the point about Burton prices, there's absolutely no way I'd have gone near this board at full price, but I picked it up on eBay for £250 which feels like an absolute steal now that I've had it out on the mountain.
Highly recommended - at least worth a try before you buy (other bonus - everyone's got a Custom, but not seen many V-Rockers around, if that sort of thing worries you). |
