I'm looking to take advantage of the sales and pick up a park/all mountain RC/Zero Camber board for a trip to St. Anton next month and have found the following . . .
Ride DH2 (and 2.2) 157cm - £260 (slightly over the weight range for this)
K2 Believer 157cm - £270
Skate Banana 156cm - £280
with the TRice 157cm C2BTX (£330) as a wild card.
I already have a regular (cambered) 159 for piste/off piste use and and want something that is just great fun all over the mountain. I'm never going to be going off the big booters in the park, but would be showing it some natural hits on a run down the hill and some of the smaller items in the park. Basically, general tomfoolery is the name of the game, which is making me think the TRice might be a bit too stiff.
I've had an MTX board before and really got on with it, but have seen decent reviews of the DH2 and Believer. Anybody have good or bad things to say about these two? I know the SB has been discussed to death, but if you've got this season's (stiffer than previous years?), I'd be interested to hear how you've got on with it.
Bindings are the 09/10 K2 Auto (canted footbeds) and boots are Salomon Dialogue, and I'm 5' 11, US9.5, 88kg.
Cheers. |

i'm not a huge ride fan but the DH2 rides nice but is a bit "dull"
never tried a believer
i rode last years banana a bit and thought it was a fun board for playing on...but everyone has them haha
never tried the trice, but from the reviews I would agree that it's 2 stiff
could i through in another wild card... Capita Horroskope FK, i just picked one up as a second board and it is such good fun, for tripoding and buttering in the domes and on piste/park stupidity |

Cheers for the replies. I've looked at the Capita, but the biggest is a 155 (not sure this would feel too small. SB is only 1cm longer though I guess) and it doesn't have a sintered base.
Thanks for the Jibpan offer, but I'm buying new. |

Should have wildcarded the Lib TRS, just come back from USA on it, superb, carves, jumps, butters etc, much more forgiving than the TRice, super fun! |

I've seen the TRS for the same price (£330) and did think about it, but again, no sintered base.
The Omatic Wigglestick has also come into the equation. 'Sintruded' base, but £220 at the moment. |

What's the issue with a non sintered base, the TRS has the TNT base which has 'stuff' impregnated into the base material to keep it slippery, and they 'Lib Tech' state that its the fastest base on the market unwaxed, I didn't have any issues with speed, quite the opposite! You'll rule out loads of wicked boards if you wont have a non sintered one |

Get the DH2 i absolutley love mine its awesome
Oh im on the 157 and over the weight limit not by a lot but it rides fine. What i would say it does chatter a bit at speed but other than that its a rock solid board. Its got some awesome flex and pop. |

I've just bought one of these.....though with my limited experience I can only really say that, personally, I like it a lot. The BS tech felt really nice compared to the other boards I tried that didn't have it, not a hint of an edge catching and very easy to turn....very forgiving for a less experienced rider like me so that's probably why I liked it. It didn't seem too a soft a flex compared to something like the Forum Chillydog that I also tried, which seemed to be all over the place to me. It's listed as a reverse camber as far as I'm aware but to be honest it can only be very slight as I can't really notice it when looking at the board.
But yeah.....I've probably not ridden enough boards to really give you advice you could trust with you life... |

| I have just been away and didnt see another skate banana the whole time I was in resort. I was suprised tbh, although if I had of I would guess that tells you something. Kitz was really Icey all week and the snow sucked but my 'Nana just cut through it all and it felt great, was really impressed with how it felt under those conditions. Some slag it, some rave about it... All I know is I love miine. |

Gotta put in a vote for the Believer, really fun Really responsive, great on the mountain and fun in the park. Not great for flatout charging when you're out with skiers and its not that floaty for powder, but for 90% of the time is amazing fun to ride. I took one out for a morning when I was in breck and went back at lunchtime and ordered one. The '10 model is more fun than the '09 model. |

Back again.
After originally looking at standard style rockers, I've drifted towards some hybrid
camber/rocker boards. Plus, out of the original list, only the DH2 is still available at
a dscount.
The Nitro (157) and GNU (155) can be had for £250-300, with the NS (156) still at £415. A certain
sponsor on GB is offering 25% off ALL boards though, so providing they do actually mean what
they advertise, this would make it around £300.
I'm leaning toward the Nitro as it's the cheapest of the 3 and I really think NS take the piss with their pricing over here (a $400 board in the US is £415 here. WTF?). Also thinking that the Gnu
might be a bit too short as I currently ride a 159 on/off piste, but it's only 2cm shorter at either end.
Of more traditional rockers, the Joystick (would be using K2 Autos on ICS), Rider's Choice and DH2
are still in the mix.
Anybody with positive/negative things to say about the boards on the list?
Thanks again in advance. |

Well, after taking way too long to make a decision, I ended up getting a Gnu Danny Kass C2BTX
for £250. Not bad seeing as it's £465 RRP.
Was a bit sceptical about going down to a 155, but it's mid-wide at 255mm, so should be ok in the powder.
Looking forward to giving it an outing in St. Anton next weekend.
Cheers for all the help/suggestions. |
