Following on from this thread where I was trying to decide where would be best for me to learn, I wanted to start a fresh topic to inform any potential learners of my experiences learning up Nevis Range in Scotland!

http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/PNphpBB2 ... 39440.html

The weekend was amazing! First off, what a beautiful place Scotland is and especially Fort William. It was a joy staying there and will be visiting again.

Now to the boarding! The people at Nevis Range were amazing! I went on a beginner to snowboarding package at Nevis Range costing £55 which included board hire, lift passes and 4 hours of tuition. Personally I think this was great value! Our instructor was amazing (I won’t name the instructor in case they don’t want to named) but they were amazing and I can’t thank them too much! I started in a group of 7 and by the end of the first two hours we were heel edging down the beginner slope doing our falling leafs! In the second session there was only me and my missus but she was buggered and give up (7 hour drive from Staffordshire really took it out of her) so I got plenty of time with the instructor in the afternoon to develop my skills. I was left with 2 hours of free time to continue practising my turns, which I believe I would have made serious progress on given the advice I was given, but sadly the travelling caught up with me as well and I had to give in and left.

All in all I can definitely recommend what I did to anyone. Learning up a mountain was great and gave me a real feeling for what snowboarding is all about! I have really caught the bug for this and am currently planning on completing my tuition on the indoor slopes (another trip to Scotland before end of season just isn’t possible I don’t think) before going back to Scotland next year (hopefully a couple of times) for another go up the slopes. I want to thank everyone on the forum for the advice I received and again thanks to everyone at Nevis range for a brilliant weekend. You have really made a big impression on me!
