Damn, all those Maverix and Definition courses were for nothing 'cos you're saying I'll be too old to compete at my first Olympics.

There's a big announcement about the BSA planned for the Brits. The BSA had a meeting with BOA yesterday and "things were decided"... I'm just not privvy to what they were.

im sure you meant its all about style not spinning to win or something like that...but no technique = bad style

I'm pretty sure what I meant is that you can't go N-s-N without breaking some IOC eggs.

Having been in Vancouver for the last Olympics, I have to say that I'm all for slopestyle getting introduced as soon as possible - and for snowboarding to start to have a much bigger influence at the Olympic table as soon as possible.

I think there's a reasonable argument for saying that it's already starting to have an influence, and that the men at the top are starting to see that the Games need to move on from 80s tight clothing and long, boring events.

It was blatantly obvious to me, and almost everyone I spoke to out there, that boarderX, SkiX and hockey were by far and away the most entertaining events, and that they were the things fans were getting excited about - they had attitude, a bit of sex appeal and results that didn't take 15 hours and some mad judges to decide.

I also managed to meet a few of the boarders while I was out there and the camaraderie and sense of fun they bring to the Games is vital. In short, the Olympics needs snowboarding, and if snowboarding can also get something out of the Olympics then all good. PGS is perhaps looking a little tired, aerials in skiing certainly is, and slopestyle and X Games' influence can only be good for the Olympics as long as it's a two-way thing and it doesn't hamper boarding.

Would be great to see Jenny Jones win gold, and strikes me as a real shame that she doesn't have that opportunity.

I wrote a piece at the time about snowboarders taking over the IOC, as follows:

"Rick Broadbent at The Times came up with a cracking idea the other day, and I reckon it's time to actively start lobbying the IOC.

You see, he suggested putting snowboarders in charge of the Winter Olympics.

And quite frankly, this is probably the best idea anyone's had as a long, tiring, controversial, exciting, boring, rollercoaster week one of Olympic action draws to a close.

First we had Japanese boarder and all-round dude Kazuhiro Kokubo getting up the noses of stuffy officials by wearing his official Olympic suit with shirt untucked, tie loosened and trousers riding pretty damn low. Or dressing like an, erm...snowboarding 21-year-old. None of his boarding team mates wore a tie on the plane home after Kokubo was forced to apologise.

Then it was the turn of French ace Mathieu Crepel, who marked his big day of competition by drawing a comedy French moustache on his face to ease the tension and, well, just have a bit of a laugh really.

You see, that's the thing with boarders - they don't take things too seriously, know how to have a laugh, and even after slamming they'll pick themselves up and get on with it with a sense of camaraderie missing from so many other sports.

While we are shaking things up, why not get Slopestyle into the Olympics, after its success at X Games, and give Britain's own Jenny Jones the chance to do her thing and win gold on the biggest stage. Chances are that it would be a better addition than the boarding PGS, adding to the big successes of Cross and Halfpipe.

I mentioned the wild popularity of Team Canada fashion the other day, and there's no doubt that Team USA have had their own success - the snowboarding team's Burton outfit has been by far the best gear in Vancouver this year, and the limited edition gear is already causing a buzz on the web as fans clamour for snowboarding giants Burton to release a commercial version of the team-only outfit.

Ski Sunday's snowboarding guru Ed Leigh also suggests a more exciting version of curling during a chat the other day, where people have to stand on the stones and risk life and limb for their game.

Now if that's not reason enough to get snowboarders in charge of the Games I really don't know what is."
