I've just been looking at the Tignes X-games website and the lists of invited riders and there only three UK riders: Jenny Jones, Aimee Fuller and Tyler Chorlton!
Only three........Thats Rubbish!!!
and there no Uk skiers at all!!!
i think the big name missing there is Jamie Nichols!!
do you think his invite got lost in the post? |

| I doubt it, unfortunately Jamie is yet to be a big name overseas. considering he's effectively on his first season he's done a great job of getting up the TTR rankings and challenging in some high level comps but I think even he'd agree that he wouldn't expect an invite to one of the biggest comps of the season based on being a well known rider in the UK. |

Yeah, he got to a final in Italy... that's about it isn't it?
That said when they do the X-Games in the states they tend to invite a few groms (the lad that came 3rd in slopestyle I think) who aren't necessarily ranked that high... and he was 16...
Maybe in a year or so... |

There was an article somewhere (WL???) about the state of UK riders saying that Jenny, Tyler and Jamie are the only british riders that make a living out of snowboarding..... the rest are basically breaking even funding their chosen lifestyle.
Bearing in mind that snowboarding is so massive worldwide and we dont have the access in our home country to the right facilities I think its not bad that we have two homegrown pros (do we count tyler as he didnt exactly start riding in the UK) |

he made the final of the Burton European Open too. Jamie's riding really well at the moment, and really raising his profile in the right places. |

That sounds about right.
The interview with Dan Wakeham in Whitelines recently showed that he only got £1500 to support his Olympics, as he is not considered likely to get a medal. That's just about going to cover your flights. He was scrapping by and realized that he was never going to be able to afford to do and have the things he wanted if he didn't try and find a real job to support it. |

| at the end of practise... big ragdoll/scorpion... she took the sled down but she's clearly okay... one tough chick. I dread to think how much it's going to go off in The Loop when she wins on Friday. |
