What am I doing wrong? I can see that I'm leaning back too much. I'm still pretty much a beginner. Only been boarding for 8 days in total but I want to get better.
Any tips would be great.

| Get to a dome and get some coaching? You have to put weight over your leading foot and commit to your turns. The leaning back will inhibit your progress so that is the bit you need to work on. On going into a turn whether heel or toe edge, 60% of your weight should be over your lead foot. |

Yeah not much more to add there - Your technique is coming along - but your far to tenative - and are leaving most of your weight on your uphill foot.
Not exactly a instructor myself but i would say really commit to moving the pressure / weight to the control point your focusing on to turn and really feel the weight rolling around the front foot when u transition.
You know those bails when u try to turn but it just wont seem to take and u end up on arse / face - thats coz you don't have enough wait on your control point ( front foot toe or heel )- even if ure trying to apply pressure there if all your weight is back its not going to take and another part of the edge with catch and end up throwing you. If its a fear thing - just remmember this - u will bail tons more with ure weight back - if u feel yourself accelerating too fast - just commit to the turn and the control point and have faith in the boards ability to turn, which will skim of speed in a hurry.
Practice on your board at home - focus on your pressure moving and moving around your front foot feel and your weight bias over your front binding, even over emphasise this and practice a nose butter or two to get the feeling of having your weight at more of a forward bias.
Hope that helps |

Thank you. I sometimes felt like I was making progress but other times not so much.
I had a eureka moment on the last day when I realised that I got a lot better by just looking further down the mountain. Weird. |

Just relax, relax and relax... be confident in your ability and trust your board. People tend to lean back if they are scared of the speed/hill. The further down hill you lean and more over your front foot to initiate the turn the quicker it will happen and you will take speed off.
Also try and think turn turn turn... not just turn, take a bit of time, turn... that way you force yourself to "flow" a lot better. |
