Hi, my wife and I did the board in a day at MK in September and it was really cool, the group numbers were kept small and the instructor new his stuff and had us all linking turns by the end of the day. Had sore wrists and arse though from falling but that's just the fun of learning !! We got free tea and coffee and a food voucher for lunch too. Enjoy |

| Did one about a year back at tamworth, was a good course and gave me a real headstart when i got to the mountains. If u can afford it, buy some decent snowboard socks before u go, it'll make ur feet much happier! Dont worry about wrapping up really warm, t-shirt and waterproof shell should do the trick as you'll get really hot. |

Hi guys
Thanks for your replies.
I've got my own boots, which fit like a glove - untill i wear them for an hour, then my toes go numb. They are the best fitting tho when i tried loads of boots on. Actually got my own board as well.
Cheers again for replies x |

Have you checked that your hands don't have boots on the end of them?
might solve your problem |

Nice joke.
I did board in a day and it was great but if you fall and hurt yourself that's it. Imagine that at 9am....
All in all look after urself, enjoy it and have a laugh! |

| I know several people who've done it, it's good, if tiring. Most people I know have needed another lesson or 2 afterwards, but they pretty much all thought it was good fun. |

| I can recommend them, well, both my brother and sister have both taken some lessons. They were both knackered at the end but enjoyed it |

Impact shorts should be considered vital. As a beginner you WILL spend a lot of time falling on your ass. After 8 hours, it may become a bit tiresome.
Personally when people ask my opinion, my advice is that a couple of 4 hour 'fasttrack' lessons are better than one all day session (if they still do them). But I don't think it's a big deal, ether will help immensly and give you a better holdiay than having no experience before you go. |

Yeah def agree with maybe having a lesson after the board in a day, I was ok on the nursery slope but when went back the next week to board the main slope I was sliding down face first every run !
It is very tiring doing six hours in one hit for the first time, but I think the best way to pick it up.
Glad you got your own boots coz my experience of rental boots at Mk are they really smell ! |

Just come back from a day snowboarding beginner course at Calshot (No real snow in the South!) and have to say it was great fun. Learnt a lot from it and if nothing else it's given me a lot of confidence for our trip to Andorra in January. Learnt enough to safely get down a slope and started linking turns at the end of the day.
Definitely need more practice and going to try again before the trip, but it's certainly given me enough knowledge of the techniques, feet movements, and weight shifting to know how to do it, even if I can quite put it all together yet |

My girlfriend and I have got an hour and a half lesson booked at Braehead snozone next monday, as a kind of taster in preparation for doing the snowboard in a day lesson the following week.
We are planning on going away to Bansko in February and would obviously try to get as much experience boarding before we go away, but do you guys think that we should get a few lessons in Bansko or just head out alone? |

Depends on how well you do at the snowboard in a day and if you go again before your holiday.
Its quite a long gap between your snowboard in a day and your trip a couple of vists to Braehead to practice would probably mean you dont need the lessons but wait until youve done the snowboard in a day if your confident I wouldnt be to worried. |
