We're not long back from Fernie. Amazing holiday as usual. The snow was a little disappointing this year (no major dumps to speak of), but the joy of riding about on near empty mountains is always worth the extra flight time compared to Europe.

Anyway I just wanted to big up the chalet that we stayed at, which made the whole trip worthwhile:

http://www.canadianpowdertours.com/thechalet.html

Really nice chilled out place that felt like home instantly.
Awesome food (like deer, salmon, steak - all local, wild/organic, cooked to perfection and delicious).
Great hot tub in the garden, with a view of the "Lizard Range".
Decent wine with dinner and an honesty bar.
Nothing better than coming back to freshly made cake and a roaring fire.
Crazy guiding and tons of advice about where to go, how to save cash, where the best bars are etc.

If anyone is planning to head out to Fernie next year then I HIGHLY recommend you drop Susan an email before you go booking into another soulless Ing**ms/Cr**tal package deal.

Thanks again to Susan, Kimi, and Dan for making that a holiday to remember.

That lodge looks nice enough Nonstop, but this was more on the personal chalet end of the market: 6 bedrooms, place to ourselves, home cooked meals; rather than 42 bedroom lodge and a restaurant.

More our cup of tea - but each to their own. Smile

Yeah snowfall was a bit lame this season. We got a couple of dumps in the first day or two, but then very little after that.

Free wine at dinner, a well-stocked honesty bar and a big fire meant we didn't go out all that often. Very Happy

Brickhouse was supposed to be good: with live bands on, but it was too stowed and when no bands were on it was pretty dead. We did end up in a pretty decent reggae bar with a good band - no idea what that was called tho.

Oh and if you do get some snow then try hitting "Morning Glory". (Short hike up from the Lost Boys cafe) It's a really nice gladed powder run.
