Hi Guys,

Like everyone, very much looking forward to this Saturday!

Was just wondering if anyone who has been on the Bash before, (or just knows Tignes well) has any ideas about lessons out there?

I really want to get some tips where carving is concerned basically... Is it worth booking some lessons in advance or seeing how it goes and what the schools are like when i get there? Will there be a discount for SCUK or small groups if anyone else wants to join me?

Or, am i going totally overboard with lessons and will advanced riders be cool with passing on a bit of advice / demos on how to do it? Obviously dont wanna be a nag!

Cheers and see you soon!

Nick

Well, from knowing people on here, there'll always be people to help pass on tips Very Happy
I'll probably need some myself as first time on proper snow!!

You can get coaching when you get there, check the discount pages to see who's around Tignes.

John at the Lodge will be able to recommend a school. We have a discount with a few in resort I think.

I think John will probably recommend Alliance, they seem to be some of the best around there.

Jon (whos at the lodge this week and next) has had freestyle lessons with Alliance this week. He might be able to give you an idea what he thought of them.

Can't recommend Alliance highly enough - they're excellent for anything from beginners lessons, intermediate improvment sessions, freestyle coaching to off pist guiding - check out http://alliancesnowboarding.com/ and i believe SCUK members do get a discount

Bob - I'd up for this! I have sent a mail to Alliance following Johns recommendation, to see if they can put a session together. Will let you know what they suggest.

We did organise a few sessions last year, but the uptake was a bit confused and I'm not really sure who did what if anything. I might be up for a spot of freestyle coaching too and will try my best not to pop my shoulder in the park like last year Laughing

Perhaps John can take the details of interested people on arrival and see if we can't sort out a SCUK session for Monday perhaps.

last year we did plan a guiding day and a freestyle coaching day - but the guiding was more popular (and we usually include a bit of freestyle coaching/tips along the way too) so we dropped the freestyle specific element.
Having said that, if enough people were interested we could maybe do a session or two with Will Hughes, Si Belson and Schophe maybe (they're all on for doing a couple of guiding sessions for me) so let me know - i'm sure they would step up to some coaching for payment in Guinness!

Otherwise as i said before a session with Alliance would do anyone wonders so if you got a group together i'd recommend that too.

...just spoke with Nikki at Alliance - suggestion is that we book on a level 3 , 4 x 1/2day morning course - although it wouldn't just focus on freestyle.

A number of bash folks already seem to be booked up (lev 2 almost full). ..Would still be up for it but not sure if it will clash with the bash timetable??

We have a timetable? Not really. The guiding and the Bash Dash are the only things planned for during the day and the guiding is optional and flexible anyway.

Lenny

I'm interested, but not sure i want as much as 4 x 1/2day morning course. It will make it tricky to do things and/or meet up with other people, particularly if they head over to Val. Still interested though if theres a possibility of something shorter. I like to be sure it will focus on freestyle too!. Might be better to get a private lesson but with a few of us so we can dictate what is covered.

Dunx / John,

I thought the freestyle failed because the parks were closed most of the time?

I certainly would welcome any guiding and/or coaching though. I enjoyed the guiding last time and really appreciate the effort put in.

Cheers

Chris

Hey Lenny,

I have had a look on the website and I think the 4 x 1/2 day sounds pretty good and not bad value for money, especially if we can get a further scuk discount... Level two or three would be fine with me I reckon...?

I think it could be good to have a bit of structured learning in the mornings... I did not plan to do that, but the more I think about it... it makes sense.

Would not want to miss the guiding though.

yeah thinking exactly the same thing myself - suggest you contact them to find out the right level for you though. Cost is £130.50 with the discount for 12hrs.
