I'm biased because I worked in whistler for a season, but I did visit Banff whilst I was in Canada too. I'd go for Whistler every time. I think the main reason is because its dead easy to do what you want there. You want to go up Whistler mountain. Fine, you stroll to the village lifts and head up. You want to change to Blackcomb mountain, cool you just hope on peak to peak and you're there. You want to ride park, there's lord knows how many parks on each mountain for all abilities.
Banff is cool, and the three resorts are cool, but you have to get buses out there so you can't make spur of the moment choices which I think would bug me! |

| If you like sitting on buses go to Banff, if you like snowboarding go to Whistler. |

Fernie! (just to be awkward)
Buses at Banff are a pain. Whistler is nice but a bit too purpose built Disneyland for my tastes.
Riding is awesome at all of them of course. |

| Are you going until end of season? I'm doing the season myself and went for Whistler due mainly to the reasons highlighted above. |

| Im in Banff at the moment, the conditions have been average/good for most of the season,. But the last 3 days there has been just over a meter of snow. It is still puking it down. Today was the best day ive ever had on my board. March is a good time for Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. Not been to Whistler so cant compare. |

Two completely different places! Whistler is the las Vegas of the ski resorts, its a one stop shop. Watch mtvs peak season for a whistler low down. If you're going to Banff and worried about transport hire a car and pick up some bums on the way to the hill
I would recommend getting out to revelstoke, kicking horse, red, Fernie and the hot springs etc. In fact do the the powder highway loop |

| Ps all resorts will be fairly quiet up till Xmas day, then its carnage. Especially Banff and whistler as so close to the big cities. |

Went to Banff Last year and also Beginning of Feb this year for 2weeks.
Loved it on both trips, although we had the better weather last year (a lot of clear days) think we had 1 half clear day this year which was a little disappointing. But still enjoyed the boarding. Yes the buses can be annoying but you just end up getting used to it and turns into a regular routine. We stayed in the Mount Royal, so it was just a case of walking out to the rear car park to get the bus to any of the 3 resorts (Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay)
Great places to eat and drink and a couple of little night clubs in town.
I havent been to Whistler so cant comment there. We are thinking of going out there next year as we have done two years straight in Banff.. Time to move onto new destination |
