Hi All, pleeeeeeease help!
I cant find a base layer that does what says on the tin!
I have tried Icebreaker crew 200, , Helly Hansen Lifa Dry, Helly Hansen Lifa Warm, Trespass, and an American make?
All good close fitting and from a vey varid price range.
None of them seem to work
My Mid layer is a micro Berghaus
My Jacket is a Sessions 15k/15k
After an hour or so boarding i start to feel the cold because the base layer feels damp??? |

| Not sure what to suggest, but make sure there not to big, they need to be skin tight to work properly, or maybe you wear to much and your getting to sweaty? |

you could try these - wore them last year:

pricey - but do what they say on the tin..and you have to peel yourself out of them at the end of the day - but they stay dry. Managed to wear them for a whole week last year and they didn't even smell too bad...much to the disgust of the ski-girls in the chalet. |

They're base layers all they're supposed to do is keep you warm and stop you sweating. If you've tried all of those makes then maybe i'd suggest its your body not the thermals? |

In what way don't they work? If you're not warm enough, then you just need more layers on top of the base. That does a very specific job in insulating and wicking away sweat.
I'm usually too warm in a base layer, T and shell outer, but that's Europe, not -25 in Canada.
Tried a neck gater/balaclava? They keep in a lot of warmth. |

| Merino Wool. It's for winners, get a lightweight one. Layer up with a T-Shirt, the Wool will wick the sweat away, the T-Shirt will absorb it, leaving your skin dry & toasty underneath. Shimples! |

Down stairs I wear boxers and impact shorts and ride with my vents open.
Up top I normally wear whatever T shirt I had on the night before and my jacket cos I've got plenty of my own insulation. If its really cold I'll put on an under armour |

wow! thanks for all the replies!
I think i may be getting tooooo hot!!
Even my icebreaker (merino wool) makes me feel damp and very uncomfortable when i wear three layers (micro Berghaus mid layer) and my Sessions jacket.
No problem with the base layer undies.
Thanks for all the help guys. |
