blimey i got through about 400 quid in ten days out there. And that was with dinner already provided by the lodge. Maybe im just too generous with my drink Wink

You can do it for cheap as long as you don't go to Jacks nightclub too often!

On that note....

I'm not exactly flush with the dosh at the minute (thanks recession and lack of IT contract work) so was wondering how much it's going to cost me out at the bash.

I'm booked into the lodge, so don't need to worry about breakfast and dinner, but will obviously need to feed myself during the day and would like to participate in beerage too.

I'm not much of a clubber though (unless it's a good rock/goth club, which I doubt it will be!) so won't be out all night with you party animals Smile

I eat like a horse too, so we're not just taking a sarnie for lunch - i'll want something substantial.

So really, how much am I going to spend? Smile

Well beers are about 5 euros with the seasonaire discount card everyone gets on the bash so it depends how many you drink...

Food for lunch is very expensive, cheapest place is Tignes Cuisine which does plates of noodles or pies for 5 0r 6 euros a pop. For a sit down burger and chips affair you're talking between 12 and 20 euros a pop.

Oh and no, no goth clubs, only club is jacks and that your typical cheesy disco 8 euros a beer job.

Yeah ditto with no cash, especially with this new job starting.

I plan on getting smashed beforehand!

(How strict are they on bouncers, good to sneak in my own vodka and be a tramp for a week?)

Yup, that's always my plan - then top up at the club. Plus drinking with mates before going out is usually much better craic!

...and for the real alchos, shove a small bottle of straight vodka down your kegs just before you go in. Rolling Eyes

I plan to spend under a tenner and fully expect people to buy me drinks throughout the week and lunch too.

You can spend as little or as much as you want really. Alcohol is a problem... I got horribly drunk at the Brits last year and woke to find I'd paid for a restaurant meal for 12 the night before. Doh!

I manage to spend way less than most people and have fun! I don't sponge drinks either unlike others (who shall remain nameless). Charlie's top tips for saving money are:

- Make a sandwich and grab a mars bar/snickers/nuts to take with you on the hill and fill a bottle with water.
- Eat as much as you can at breakfast.
- Never eat in a mountain restaurant.
- Buy alcohol before you get there and drink it in your apartment/lodge and then take a hipflask out with you (though they won't even let you into Jacks with an empty hip flask because aparently you might hit someone on the head with it Rolling Eyes).
- Don't buy equipment in resort, you'll pay at least a third more.
- Don't take all your cash with you on a night out, you WILL spend it.

They also steal your empty hip flask when you leave it at the door. Unless like Nick you have the common sense to walk away, hide it in your sock and come back in.

I spent about £350 last yr, but took a bottle of vodka with me and some pasta and bits for the appartment and porridge for the morning.

The Loop do good lunchtime food, a plate of nacho's for 10 euros easy does 2 people lunch
