Just wondering if there is anyone else who is in the same boat as me? I've spent the last three season in Austria, snowboarding and now I've decided that it's time to sort my life out, so I'm not going back for another season and to be honest, I've no idea how I'm going to survive the winter stuck in the uk!!
Any tips, or just anyone else who can sympathise?? |

Nearly the same as you. When I got home from Canada I couldn't find work to save for this season.
I'm trying to sort my life out e.g. pay debts off and save money before moving to the snow and live in or near the mountian.
No one said you have to sort your life out in the UK. |

dude, your looking at this all the wrong way!
what about all the amazing times youve had!
I was due to do a season in Canada back in 1997 and got the mrs pregnant lol and never got the chance to do a season.
if you dont get out this year, there is always next year,
If you want my advice best way to make sure you can get to the slopes next year is wear a condom and dont get the phyco ex mrs pregnant
hahahahaha |

I was in the same situation last year it is horrible daunting thing.
Mine wokred out Preety good. Ended up working a great job related ot snowboarding right by the snow dome and rode a few times a week and got a few trips in.
Definalty not the same as a season but as close as you can get in the UK!
Im back int he snow now though. Not sure how being in the UK for teo winters in a row would work out. |

It's tough!
Been a few years since my last season now, it's always a nightmare when your mates are all going off to do seasons again and you are stuck in an office or whatever.
Especially when it gets around to this time of year when it's starting to get cold, the snow begins falling, all the new gear and vids are out. |

He's serving his country... who would feed him, clothe him or tell him where to be...
I've been keen on it for a couple of years but as like Rob the job doesn't allow it... I'm hoping to take a sabatical in a couple of years and get one cracked then. |

I am also having to forgo a season and am sure I know a couple of other people in the same situation.
It's not going to be fun, but hopefully it will be a chance to apply for Canadian residency for me and perhaps get involved in the industry from a different perspective than one of an instructor. |

Me, the wife and out little baby are thinking about doing a season in a couple of years and I don't know how but I'll get us to work the season or start some kind of business.
Think of an idea and something may come up trumps and allow you to ride when you can.
Or get a job working 3 days a week based using the PC from the UK. |

Totally true, ideally I'd like to move to sweden permenently but after 3 summers there I still cant find a proper job which pays enough, other than bar jobs, although this summer I couldnt even find a bar job this time.
It's one of those things though, I am a little tired of never having money, no place of my own etc, and sadly the UK is the easiest place to find that, for now.
Anyways, good to know I'm not the only one out there! |

I got to say I'm enjoying having money this winter and buying new things which I've been after for a while without thinking how much money it will take away from the season.
Saying the above I would still like to be doing a season, but maybe working one so I do have money coming in unlike the past winters.
Just keep looking in Sweden for work and one day something will come up. |

| It can be a tough choice skipping a season. Having said that it's rare that you'll regret making the decision to do another one. There are some alternative options to make it more viable. Becoming a qualified instructor can be one of them. |

I wouldn't want to become an instructor. It would take away what snowboard is to me and become a job.
I'm skipping a season for a reason e.g. trying to move and live in Whistler debt free. |
