Hello all!
finally getting boardslides down, all the time i watched others and thought about them in my head i felt that riding out switch made more sense because you have already rotated 90 onto the box/rail so your momentum is going in the direction to rotate another 90 to finish switch. However for some unknow reason i can't seem to do it, my body naturally jumps back round to land regular! i tried over and over again but my body just wouldn't conform!!!
anyone else had this? any small tips to make this work for me?

when learning them point backwards infront of your body with the hand nearest the tail of the board... and your tail should swing round...
also its to fakie not switch  |

You need to physically plan the exit of the box, before you hit the box. You are right, it is quite easy because the rotation should naturally continue, but i'll bet your body is doing everything in its power to not leave the comfort zone of the direction you would normally ride in.
when you hop 90 degrees its good practise to try and over rotate that, if you find you can 180 onto the box then right on! But thats not what i mean for this, if you over rotate it you will naturally line your shoulders up with where they should be in order to exit the way you want. If you find this difficult, you can hop on 90 degrees so your shoulders are totally square, you're facing forward, everythings good - then rotate your shoulders that extra bit so that the top half of your body is wound up ready to hop the 90 degrees off.
If your shoulders aren't where they need to be you'll either exit the box at a 90 degree angle, or you'll correct back to how you entered the box in the first place, which seems to be what you're doing.
One other thing, try and get a lower center of gravity by bending your legs, it'll give you more control. |

Best to be even as much as possible as you'll become a cleaner all round rider quicker and it'll help with not catching edges or over leaning

Thanks everyone, i kind of know the things you are all saying just can't seem to do it! will spend some time visualising and then just do it! i think the rotation of the shoulders as i approach the end of the rail is key, it just feels so weird. but i guess that's the whole point of learning new tricks! any more tips ?

| I already said it but just to reiterate - its a really good one to try and over rotate the jump onto the box. If you're worried about the thought process whilst you're moving on a piece of metal/plastic to rotate your shoulders, just make sure you've done it before you even left the kicker by getting it past 90. Either PAST 90 or 90 degrees at speed so you move whilst you're on the box. It will also give you more steez pleez |

How good is your switch?
Alot of people get like a mental block on getting there bodies to initiate a landing to switch if the rider isnt confident in their ability riding switch. |

are you sliding frontside or backside? or is it your heals or your toes pointing down the slope to avoid any confusion ..... the advice in getting the board round to switch would be different for both I would say.....
The body movement would be similar, just the advice would differ imho. |

| yeah probably....I would always tell someone who was trying to come out of backside switch to look back up the box, that'll bring the shoulders round naturally, same as looking back up the slope on a 180:) |

really what? look back up the box? yeah i would say so...
if your goofy (i am so thats how i'm gona explain it!!) your sliding along the box, toes pointing towards the end of the box and shoulders parrallel to the board. by looking over your right shoulder and back up to the top of the box, everything will follow and you'll ride out switch. simples  |

ohhh welll fair i suppose... I'd always say watch the end of the box or where you plan to land, definitely can understand the logic for bigger spins than 180s and bigger spins on boxes aswell, but i suppose i just do it a little differently!
