The Niseko area is known for some of the best off-piste powder boarding in the world. Niseko can receive up to 16 metres of snow in a season & No other destination receives such consistently perfect snow, because Niseko is a geographical magnet for weather systems delivering snow clouds from the Siberian peninsula. When these storms collide, after passing the Sea of Japan, Niseko is the first place in their path. The water content of the snow is usually less than 10% creating extremely light powder snow.

Yeah I went to Niseko a few years back and it was the nuts...

Since then the Aussies have moved in....

And that can't be good...

Its not 2 steep but with 16 metres of snow there would be Avalanches all over the place... It has the best Backcountry pow in Japan... Well the Japanese are very very strict in most Resorts but the Ski Patrol are ok in Niseko... Last year there were more people from Hong Kong and Singapore than ozzies.. Was interesting to see many English, Swedish, Finish and American Boarders...

Some rad backcountry shreddin

Niseko is definitely on my list of places i want to visit. It would be great to spend some time snowboarding there and then a few days in Tokyo.

Was in Niseko last month, awesome!! Its the one place where you can believe the hype. It hadn't had a mega dump when we were there but the snow was so deep, light and fluffy that even tracked out, chopped up powder was heaven. The back bowls of Annupuri are unbelievable, in bounds Rinkan is knee to thigh deep turns as is strawberry and blue berry fields. Acess out gate 4 has some quality deep and light turns.
