So I'm back again with another q.pipe question...I've been trying and failing for 2 sessions at the slope to try and learn how to butter the muffin and all I've managed to do is land some pretty gnarly faceplants Sad

I'm struggling with judging the speed coming in to the pipe; I either seem to go too slow and then I don't feel like I've got enough speed to carry the rotation round or I go too fast and just shoot out the top of the pipe!

Hi
New tricks can take a while to learn its good to hear you are still giving it a good go. Its also good to hear that you sometimes come in with to much speed so sounds like your not scared. Try and work on your run up so you always start from the same place and you dont have to check your speed. This might be starting in a bit closer before you start your run in to the Q,pipe.

Cheers
Gav

to butter a muffin is to butter into the start of of rotation, so if your doing a fron 3 then teh first 90 degrees or so would be done on the run up of teh kicker whist buttering onteh nose or tail of the board

as for a QP i guess its going a rotaion up on the wall of the pipe without teh base of the board leaving the snow!

Got in one Rob Smile

Yeah I seem to have turned in to some kind of speed freak in the past couple of weeks, I've been flying about all over the shop! I know it just takes time but I was just wondering if anyone has any pointers about how they do it, is it just the same as buttering on the flat? Where should I be looking? Do I need to swing the shoulders?

Try it on the flat first.

If you are doing on the back foot lean back and spin your arms, shoulders and head round and you'll spin on the spot. When you take it to the pipe start half way up the pipe and each time start a little higher until you get to the top.

The only thing I found when trying to butter on snowflex, what I think Tam's pipe has on is its easier to catch an edge than on snow.

Well I found out just how easy it is to catch an edge last night...blew my knee out, now I'm on crutches. Oh and I broke my binding while I was at it. This is not a happy face today.

It's cool man, I'm a bit of a drama queen it's actually only a bit of fluid and I'll be back shredding in a few days but still, crutches are a pain in the ass! And I'm going to blame my new impact shorts for making me feel invincible haha totally went for it a bit too hard!

On the plus side I did get some pretty sweet butters and nearly got it in the pipe but I had done my knee in by this point so I wasn't giving it 100%!
