My board needs some TLC and sending it away to have it done is time comsuming and costly. I would get it done at MK but i've now switched to Hemel Hempstead (HH).
So two questions, does HH have board waxing facilities I can take advantage of before I ride or should I invest in my own equipment?
Thanks for your time. |

So how much would it cost in Snow and Rock?
and how much would/should it cost to buy the gear? |

Not sure how much it costs to get it done but can give you a rough idea of what it would cost for the stuff.
Argos travel iron = £10, all purpose wax from Datawax, 8 blocks = £6 (I have waxed my board twice and have used less than one half of a block for both wax jobs), plastic scraper £2.60, base cleaner £6.20, green pan scrubber just to buff excess wax off when finished scraping = pennies
It is going to be a long time before I need to buy anymore wax so with all of the above I have a kit that will last me years (unless I go for some more wax to suit the temperature when boarding a mountain). Hope this helps.
Honest waxing your own board is so easy to do and really rewarding. Have waxed mine twice now and the last time it came out brilliant, that good I even took pictures of it and showed it around my family, who of course didn't give a monkeys. |

| Do it yourself (outside unless you really want to shouted at) its so easy. Loads for companies do the kit but I've always found http://www.datawax.com/datawax/home.do good, buy a cheap £5 supermarket iron and you're sorted. I've always found it weridly therapetic.... |

i'll have to second corie1906, i got pretty much the same stuff just paid a little more for the base cleaner and wax because i bought it at my local boarding shop instead of the net. after a couple of go's it gets easier and is a big sense of achievement. just make sure you search on youtube for some tutorials so you know what you're doing and what ever you do, don't overheat your board!! and if you want to splash out a snowboard iron because the steam holes in the household ones annoy you... then burton do one for about £30 |

Hurrah!
I only paid for some green wax from snow+rock and found an old iron in my garage screaming to be used! I now have a waxed board. Def going to buy some more wax from datawax.
