just get out there and chat to people when you're taking photos! you never know they might be up for getting involved, and then you've made some riding buddies for life.

Forcefield have stepped up and are now title sponsors of our best slam catagory, now called "Forcefield Best Slam Award"
Check out thier web site, they have some sick body protection http://www.forcefieldbodyarmour.co.uk/
This is the impact gear used by the likes of Sam Cullum, Jenny Jones etc, and is up for grabs for what is deemed the best slam in a video.

Well technically it could be the best slam in a photo so if someone's bleeding, take your shot before offering them a hand back up Wink

Just to summarise how it works for anyone who can't be bothered to read the details:
- Team of max 5 people
- Submit a 15 minute video and/or 10 photos before October
- All filming, photography and riding done by team members
- Free to enter
- Prizes to be announced over the next few weeks
- E-mail snowcorps@gmail.com with your team name/members to enter

There will be some required element to make sure photos/video are made specifically for the media challenge and after the 1st June start date.

We'll be encouraging teams to send us behind the scenes shots, updates, teasers etc. the whole way through which we'll put up on the site so that you can build up some loyal fans for the public vote!

There'll be a premiere/exhibition in October where the prizes will be given out. Once we know where all the teams are based we'll decide on a location everyone can get to.

The votes will be based on web size videos and photos so whilst it'd help, there's no requirement to have professional kit to enter.

Any other questions then let me or Alex know!

This might sound silly:
Do we have to pay to get on to the slopes to take pics? I'm really new to boarding, (not to photography). I got permission for Hemel but they never said anything about being allowed on the snow. On the door to the snow it says something like, "only ticket holders past this point". Would flashing an SCUK membership card help do you think? Smile

depends on the slope, most fridges can be difficult, but if your polite, explain what your doing etc it can be done.

dryslope tends to be less restrictive and you can usually just rock up and go for it... obviously if your not a regular it is polite to ask.

you shouldn't be charged to take photos....as your actually promoting their slope & scene

most dryslopes you can just rock up and take pics no problems. Some snow centres do have issues with insurance so best to speak to the duty manager when you get there (might be an idea at dryslopes too)

I've had problems at the Xscapes, you need to let them know in advance when you plan on going and why you're taking photos. Even if you do that it isn't guaranteed that they'll let you on Rolling Eyes They may also require that you have public liability insurance (I have that on top of my camera equipment insurance). You may also have to wrangle with them a bit if you want to set up off camera strobes.

I asked about filming at Hemel on friday and was told to just ask one of the snow patrol people and let them know what i was doing.

That's been my experience as well just going on with a camera. If you're riding and just take a video camera onto the slope with you they don't tend to have an issue.

Photos/Video taken at events can be entered and you can normally sidestep management by talking to the event organiser or in a lot of cases, just walk on, they seem to care a lot less about photographers on slope then.

If you're asking permission and want us to confirm you're shooting for the media challenge then just drop me an e-mail on snowcorps@gmail.com and I'm more than happy to do that.

Hey 03Ruben, was good meeting you last night. That £10 bribe will go a long way to you winning.
I'm sure if you speak to some Chathamites next week some of those will team up with you too.
We've decided to make a video too, but it won't be entered into the competition just put up for people to see.

The team list is starting to look pretty awesome but there are still a whole load of people who have said they're up for it but not officially put their names down so if you're up for it then make sure you register by next weekend! We'll be announcing another lot of prizes over this weekend as well.

Well, I got the camera, I just need some boarders.

Add me on Facebook if you're interested "Andy 'hustler' Lead"

Hemel is my nearest slope.

Cheers

Andy
