Hey I'm new to SCUK and just got the membership for the decent discounts for xscape mk and for getting some gear.

I've been boarding about 2 years but only at mk, this year I can afford to go away so I'm off to france somewhere (can never remember the name of the place) in march so I'm looking to buy my own gear now.

Bascially I could do with some advice or recommedations on boards, boots and bindings that are all compatable (i heard burton have different mounting points for bindings??), My budget is a lowly £350 for the lot but this should get me a decent starter set after searching the net.

I've been looking at sets that include the K2 anagram board and indy bindings, or the burton clash or something similar that would be great for a first proper snowboard holiday and use in the indoor slopes for a couple of years.

Anyone got any experience or reviews of this kind of gear or maybe point me in the direction of something different. Would you recommend a particular brand or steer me away from any?? Also where are the best places to buy these from (use of the SCUK discounts ideally, might as well make use of my membership!)

Cheers in advance,

Adam

UPDATE:

I've been looking at; K2 Brigade 09 155, Burton Freestyle Bindings 08 and Salomon F20's 08 for a total of £355

Does this sound reasonable/decent enough for mostly indoor with a weeks hols on the mountain (taking into account my budget)? Would the bindings be compatible with the board or would I need an adapter of some kind, if so from where and roughly how much?

Cheers again

Adam

The first thing you should do before looking at deals on boards / bindings is get yourself sorted with a good pair of boots.

Go to your local store (don't buy boots online!) and try on everything they have within your price range. You're going to be spending alot of hours on the slopes, so the first priority is to get good fitting boots.
Everyone has different shaped feet, so what one person likes may not suit another. I must've tried on about 20 pairs of boots in 2 different stores until I decided which were comfiest!!

Hi

Being in the same boat as you (basically have been to chillfactorE,Xscape and dry slope at Rossendale learning to board) i went for an intermediate kit online - the kit came with the following :

Burton clash 09 160 board
Burton motos 09
Burton freestyle bindings
Burton "gig bag" snowboard bag

http://www.roho.co.uk/acatalog/Snowboard_Packages.html

delivered it came to £400 - i know a hell of a lot of riders diss the hell out of Burton saying their equipment is rubbish - but tell me where else on the net you can get that kit for less ! as a beginner / intermediate myself i will progress with this kit and poss in couple of seasons i will look at other brands so it suits me just fine

good luck !

get a good fitting pair of boots and maybe try some different setups when you are in resort. my first package i hated the flow bindings and sold them then bought k2 formulas and i already want to change board because i have decided i like freestyle and want a true twin board. i have only had my first board six months
