http://www.extremeholidays.com/ ....
We are very sorry but due to the very difficult trading conditions we have had to close down Extreme Holidays Limited.
Customers with forward booked holidays should contact the Travel Trust Association on 0870 8890577. |

you know what hacks me off is i only paid for my trip on the 25th nov so they took my money knowing they could not deliver
its a good job im a lot more mellow these days a few years ago i would have hunted one of their employees down dragged them to a cash point and gave them a choise on the spot money or a dam serious kicking
there must be some way you can find out if a company your about to hand over money to is in trouble or not
i reckon im going to loose £100 over this the flights where booked direct with easyjet via extreme holidays |

I had this happen to me a few years ago now, and this advise i know isnt going to help now, but its how i book and Since then i have take the view to build my own trips, when ever i leave the country.
Hotel is booked via the hotel, via email or phone, (google translation of English to the language of the country staying and also copied in English.)
Plane or Ferry book directly with the Airline or Ferry company.
I know its not going to be mega cheap or be a package deal, but i have several pieces to a jigsaw i can control and if 1 fails, goes bump.. i can find a way for get around it with out worrying what's need to be done to sort the next stage.
So far its not failed, on 2 trips to Germany and one to Finland. |

hope you get sorted |

How likely is this?!
I have a £2200 direct debit due from Inghams in a week to pay the balance for our Mont Tremblant holiday. Perhaps I should contact them and at least change the payment onto my credit card so I have some cover?
I have TGIC travel insurance - does this cover tour operators going bust? |

For package holidays you should have ATOL protection so if inghams went under you should be fine
Ok - cool...
Does that mean I'd get my full amount back (deposit + balance) if anything were to happen to Inghams (pray that it doesnt!!)
Really sucks for anyone whose booked through Extreme Holidays... were they not ATOL protected? |

I would advise alwasy paying on card.
It'll take a while to get money back if the worst happens (touch wood, pray to god, punch satan in the knob) but you'll get it back.
If you were gonna pay it out the bank anyway, pay it straight off. |

| Inghams charge an extra 2.25% to pay by credit card, which is over £50 extra. It made sense at the time to just pay the £230 deposit they ask for and then pay the balance 10 weeks before the actual holiday. |
