Great, is it only the applications that they are restricted to or is there a possibility they will reject me further down the line having run out of visa's?
They only stop accepting applications when they have no more visas available I think mate but they've been available since 2nd week of Dec so they might run out soon. |

| currently midway through a season in Banff working as a level 1 instructor for Norquay. I did the 3 week Nonstop program and considering the economic situation at home then i'll probably be coming back next season with any luck and a sponsored visa. |

I was looking at the 11 week instructor course but costs many pounds. Are they worth the money? |

| Casi Level 1 costs $300 and its a three day course which allows you to teach on the mountain and in domes but I've heard that non-stop are really good, page 4 of this thread has got a fair bit of info about courses. |

fleetwood- i had an awesome time on my three weeker and get to hang out with the guys on the 11 weeker and see the nonstop regulars around town so its all good. when you do the breakdown of the course cost then they are worth the money. the 3 weeker includes flights, season pass, bus pass, exams, tuition, accom, food, parties etc etc. considering that a tri area pass costs 1800CAD and the bus pass is 700CAD then you can do the math.
billie- the three day level 1 is split into personal riding and teaching segments.
day one focusses on your personal riding and introduces some teaching aspects. day two focusses more indepth on teaching. day 3 is exam time.
go to www.casi-acms.com and download the course guide and level 1 standards video. i found my riding improved quite a lot on the nonstop though and was definitely good for bringing my riding into the CASI style. |

I've just completed the casi level one course and it's definitely do-able as long as you're of an early-intermediate standard i.e. able to perform 'intermediate sliding turns'- the course technical standard.
An intermediate sliding turn is casi speak for turns using shoulder rotation and flexion/extension of the knees to control the edge pressure on the board. If this is confusing don't let it phase you, all the techniques are explained thoroughly, and if you've been riding for a while the chances are you've discovered the essentials already, and all that will be needed is to pay attention to the feedback from your evaluator to weed out the bad habits.
On the teaching front, reading up on the beginner progression will help alot: http://www.casi-acms.com/pdfs/Course_Guide_Level1.pdf |

I'm just waiting for my police check to come back and I'll be sending off my forms too!
I've been chatting to some people who are in Canada at the moment and due to the recession and low snowfall, some resorts are finding it tough. Banff's tourism is down by 45% and there's fewer jobs to go round.
Fernie's laid loads of Aussie & NZ workers off and this comes from a guy who works year round for the mountain.
But its not all doom & gloom, another Fernie native reckons if you get there early enough there shouldn't be a problem and with the Olympics it should see a rise in tourism to BC. |

| I spoke to a guy on the phone at nonstop boarding and he said that it would be a better idea to use the visa another year if i was going to spend 11 weeks on the course. Is anyone else seriously considering the 11 week instructor course?? |

Were you planning on working while doing the course or working as an instructor once you've finished? |
