I'm thinking of doing the season in Whistler next year.

Yeah you have the olympics but they are only a couple of weeks in Feb.

Whistler is the best why consider anywhere else.

Depends what you are looking for really. Whistler is by far the biggest, but not necessarily the best. You should check out some of the smaller hills, Red, Rev, KH, Fernie etc and you may change your mind... They have a very different vibe.

Yeh, personally I'd rather be somewhere a bit more chilled out if I'm going to be there for the season - I've heard Fernie has a bit of a hippy vibe, that true?

Fernie is really chilled out Kat which is why I definately want to go back, Whistler is immense but the problems facing accomadation this season really put me off, it just all comes down to personal preference! I'm also well into freeriding rather than parks so its all about natural hits and powder for me, the thread for Whistler is massive so it shows that people love it there but like you say Kat, I'd want somewhere I could feel at home at for a season!

We're hoping to get to Fernie early and sort a house/room out when we get there, it is tempting though to go through pepps like 29feet & run to the hills tho cause bills are included! Getting excited now for Bunac! whoo hoo!

After doing a fair bit of reading i think im set on Fernie now. Probably with 29feet.

Anyone know anything about the park at Fernie? Wouldn't mind the option of hitting some benches or something every now and then.

Long time lurker - Loving this thread!

I dropped my £205 yesterday for the BUNAC program and can't wait!! Seems like a lot of people on here are going for the non working option, but i'm DEFINITELY going to be working when i'm out there. Either a bar job, lift monkey, shop work, booking centre - i'm not really to bothered as long as I can blag a free mountain pass!

I'll be heading out to Vancouver around October 1st '09, just in time to catch all the job fairs for the coming season.

And so far, nothing mentioned of Big White - am I missing something? It's definately an option i'm considering tho I hear it's a little family orientated.

Loving this thread, would be good to keep it going throughout the next year as has been suggested, who knows, some of us could be on the same flight out...!

Some years the visas have gone dead quickly and some years they've made more available in the summer, its so hard finding the money around christmas but with the olympics they might go a bit quicker, maybe tell santa that you've been a good kid all year Kat!
