Hey guys, long time no post Wink

Just a quick question. If Rob & I were going to take out the SCUK insurance, could we take out a family membership as just 2 adults? And would we both need to be SCUK members for the discount to apply (although it's a very good price even without the discount!)
Or is there an SCUK membership for couples?

Also - a question about off-piste. It just says we need to be accompanied - so not alone, or need a guide? It doesn't specify in the T&C. Not that it will be a huge issue, our off-piste in Europe this season will mainly be restricted to sides of piste, rather than backcountry, as we won't have much time to explore properly.

Cheers!

Most policies mean accompanied by a guide or instructor ...not just a mate or fellow rider , but immsure dunx will clarify the scuk insurance stand on this

Excellent, thanks for that.

My only concern with them is the equipment cover...

Decisions decisions Smile

I never worry too much about that as all my kit is already covered on the home insurance, depends on what your going to do I guess, if you have no guide you either a, dont go off piste, b accept you have no insurance, I would rather not have that choice taken away from me Thumbs Up

The SCUK one you dont need to be with a guide.

6 You adhere to the following conditions as annotated in the activities listed below:
a you are accompanied by, or have access to, an experienced and/or suitably
qualified instructor or guide;
b you are properly supervised, taking part in an organised event or activity arranged
by a recognised provider;
c you use natural or purpose built facilities approved by the activity’s local or
national regulatory authorities;
d you are accompanied and you comply with local safety advice at all times.
Winter sports activities

• cross-country skiing (c)
• dog/horse/ reindeer sleighing (a)(b)
• dry slope skiing (c)
• off-piste snowboarding (d)
• off-piste skiing (d)
• on-piste snowboarding (c)
• on-piste skiing (c)
• on-piste mono-skiing (c)
• sledging (c)
• snowblading (c)
• snowshoeing
• telemark skiing (c)
• tobogganing (c)
• use of snowparks (c)

Nothing about a guide, you just cant go on your own, like you shouldn't anyway.

That's how I read it, but want 'official' confirmation Wink But seems like the last post in the link answers that, thanks.

Thats how I understand it.

The best thing would be phone up and check to make sure.

Yeah, I usually phone them anyway.

I have asthma (like I ever use the inhalers!) but have to confirm that it's all okay Smile

What lez (and the various flashy ads around the site) say. The standard T&G policy states you must be accompnaied by a guide like most policies. The SCUK T&G policy wording means you just can't ride off piste alone, which is common sense anyway.

Equipment cover is very generous too compared with many. SCUK Members get a 10% discount too,.

Thanks Dunx. Did you see my question about the membership/couples? I presume we can get a family insurance policy, so do we both have to be SCUK members, or do you have a couples membership for SCUK?

What Nick says... there's no membership pack any more for the very reason you give. Just discounts for all.
