Get in early and get a job CONFIRMED with the mountain BEFORE you leave. I know people who got into HOUSE and were then unable to get a full time job with the mountain due to a good 90% of the jobs being dished out at the job fairs in Czech , NZ and Austalia during he summer. This meant they had to move out of HOUSE and try and find accomodation elsewhere... |

All i want to do is chill, board, party, work the lifts and earn enough to support the lifestyle..
I am but a simple man...

| ive paid for a visa and just need to wait now..... whistler was the 1st choice but i fored off like 30 emails abou renting, had a bout 20 back saying that due to vancouver 2010 accom will be very hard to find so im ditching the whistler idea and looking at fernie or revelstoke....... i hear that revelstoke has an insiane mountain but a crappy town..... ive been to fernie twice and when it dumps it really dumps its crazy and the town is pretty cool and when i was there in 2007 there was partys everywhere........hitching up the hill is so easy aswell...... you walk down to the highway and stand at the hitching spot and if some body is heading up there and they have a spare seat they will pick you up its pretty cool its very rare that you would be waiting long..... bus is like $3....... i want to get quite a few people together to rent a big house so email me...... paulmcgrath52@hotmail.com |

Revelstoke season passes are only $589 if you buy before 30th June, thats just over £300! Haven't been myself, I hear there isn't that much of a town but the hill is awesome.
In Whistler you will find it pretty hard to get accommodation sorted unless you are out here to ring people, go and see places etc. If you really want to come I'd book into the hostel for 2-3 weeks at the start of the season and start pounding the pavements. I would have thought that it will be possible to get somewhere sorted to stay if you try hard enough. |

When I worked in Whistler as a liftie, it was four days on, three days off. Unless of course this has changed. They don't really tend to take on people to do less than those hours, so it's not like instructing or something where you can decide on hours.
Most of the mountain work jobs are pretty good for having a few days riding, and being able to affoard to live. Everyone who I knew who worked for local buisnesses or hotels seemed to get a lot less free time. The best are obviously night work jobs, such as bar work where you could ride everyday, but these only go to long time locals or pretty girls.
It's really a bit of an odd one as to what 09/10 season is going to be like, as it will be insanely busy at the Olympics time. |

| I live in Whistler, and came on Bunac, so if you have any questions fire away. There are also tons of people from 2006,7,8 who have done seasons in whistler who will help |

cool, good luck.
to be honest, sending random resumes to businesses by email/post are 0.001% effective, you will have a slim chance of getting a lead that way.
Call some places in advance in the daytime PST. They will still tell you to come in and see them when you get here if they are interested.
You best bet is to arrive early, and walk round ask for managers and ask for a job.
This year will be interesting for workers as there will be high demand for seasonal workers as a lot of locals will be leaving town feb and a lot of seasonal workers wont have a usual availability of housing. |
