Oh my god...went snowboarding for the first time ever yesterday, a 6 hour beginners session and i dont think ive ever had so much fun in my life! Id been meaning to go for years but never been able to afford such an expensive hobby and the instructor was so good i was doin turns after 4 hours.
Just wondering, now that im absolutely sure im gonna continue, what is the best piece of kit to buy first (other than a board). The instructor reckoned boots were the best place to start cause its easy to get a comfortable pair without knowing too much about snowboarding and they can make learning so much easier.
Im a bit strapped for cash atm as im saving to go to uni so as i can only really afford one major piece of kit what do you guys think? |

| Personally I'd get some decent boots first, then start getting some protection - knee pads, helmet, impact shorts, that sort of thing. Take some time and do a bit of research before you invest in a board and bindings, there must be a million "what board/bindings should I get" threads on here that you can look through for ideas. |

| buy the best fit. Forget about brands and buy what fits best. 8 hours a day wearing boots that dont fit well is hell |

i had my lessons may 17th. spend a day in rental boots. i was in agony by end of day
inside a week i had a pair of Motos. i cant comment on any other boots. the motos are my first paid of snowoard boots but. they fit well. i find them comfortable, warm simple to fasten and not overly heavy

| Ive not got any boots yet and use rental ones at chill factore and dam they hurt my feet, pick some comfy ones but that are abit tight as they will wear in after abit and be real comfy, also getting them heat moulded will give you the ultimate fit. |

| heat molding occurs naturally in boots over time so dont worry about heat molding |

| Welcome to scuk and to snowboarding , try as many as you can , dont go for the ones you like the look of , get the ones which fit and can do the job , no one really looks at your feet when your riding etc ...... and dont get a boot with to manym trick feature as you wont use alot of it ...good fit and simple |

Welcome to snowboarding, also well done for finding SCUK - a wise choice.
I can only echo what the other posters have said, find boots that are comfortable. |

Good plan to try every pair you can find on.
It took me 4.5 hours to buy my last boots
time and money well spent |
