Welcome to SCUK
Yeah...learn how to first, no point spending out on gear if you're not going to stick with it or dont like it. You are also more likley to enjoy it and stick with it if you have lessons. Think Tam have some good offers for lessons on at the mo. |

| Yeh just get some lessons and you will get board and boots included, if you dont have any pants or a coat then just try borrow them off a mate or rent them if you can. Any waterproof coat will do for when you start. |

Hi welcome to SCUK and all that.
To be honest I learn't at Cas, then did about 6 months riding at Cas, then went to France. If I was doing it all again I'd do it the same way. I saw people learning in France and I'm so glad I went over there already knowing the basics.
Benefits of learning on a UK snowslope are: predicatable snow surface and texture week on week, free boots hire, free board hire, free helmet hire, not wasting valuable holiday time, better training using methods like foot pedalling (help you balance your weight slightly forward and turn by turning the board), better student to teacher ratio (low class numbers in summer), less intimidation, less distractions and ease of having other SCUKers to ride with, give advice and try new gear with.
Oh and no French bloke shouting a few instructions and then disappearing into the distance for a smoke. |

Hey there. Tam can do a board in a day course for £85 which is a bragain. You will need to buy your own gloves for tam as they don't supply these. You will get (as someone said) board, boots and bindings as part of your lesson cost.
You'll need some warm clothing and waterproof if you can. If you do know anyone who rides ask to borrow their snowboarding trews. If you want to invest in some boarding wear try launching a wanted post in the for sale bit here, check bargain boards for cheap trousers, or fleabay.
I found when I was doing my lessons that a waterproof jacket was too hot for my, I'd advise just wearing a hoody. Whatever you wear you're gonna get wet from the snow so remember to bring some fresh dry clothes to get changed into. |

Hey,
I’ve recently just learnt how to board and I have had lesson’s at both Tam and Cas. It is more expensive but I would recommend Cas to learn. They have a separate nursery slope to practice the basics on. Therefore it is less intimidating as you haven’t got other slope users flying past.
Also regards kit all you need really is own gloves and try to borrow waterproof trousers and jacket. If your struggling wear tracksuit bottoms and a hoody and take a change of clothes for the drive home. |

ah ok....Driftworks is the best website for the drift community, I used to do it a fair bit and compete in some events, but I didnt have enough time and money to be able to get really good. So i gave it up and got into snowboarding |
