Hi, we are new to SCUK and would like your help with some market reasearch. We are looking at opening a new core snowboard store (independent) and would like to ask you guys the following -
What brands/labels would you like to see in there eg: rider owned etc?
What would you like to see people doing that no one does at the moment?
Any other comments , suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Our collective snowboards, has brand awareness and commerical experience, we are just looking for some ideas and help before we take the plunge in what looks like a UK economic melt down. We would only have 1 shot a getting it right from the start and who better to ask than the spending masses.
Thank you in advance for all your feedback and suggestions. |

Hi and welcome
To answer some of your questions. Just my opinion i'm no expert but i do shop alot for snowboard gear
brands/ labels - You have got to have a big name in there, not neccesalry burton, but something to attract people to your store.
Customer loyalty is a must, you will get people returning again, if you can offer them scuk discount and be friendly and helpfull. I travel 100 miles to buy my big kit, simply because its a well run shop, friendly staff and always open to questions and suggestions.
Where are you guys gonna be based ? are you going to have a web presence ? How do you plan to get people to your website if you do ?
Finally, go ride with the locals (which you probably do anyway) maybe sponsor competitions etc.
I hope some of that helps in someway. |

What brands/labels would you like to see in there eg: rider owned etc? - Bataleon, Rome, Endevour, Technine, Dinosaurs Will Die.
Just a few of my faves. |

| Drop gloves, I'd love to see a UK shop with them in rather than that Grenade sh*t. |

thanks for the comments so far guys, appreciate it. We do have some big plans like sponsoring riders and comps that sort of thing, our ethos is a core but friendly store that any one from beginner to pro would find a great place to look around and shop.
Cant give away too much at the mo as we are in very early stages, hence the questions.
thanks guys |

Would love to see airblaster in shops in uk, so hard to get hold off! Eletric/dragon goggles are sick. Neff - although getting more popular, EESA baselayers, Celtik gloves for sho!
Good Luck |

One way of maybe getting people to order/travel longer for your goods is to also consider brands not commonly stocked in the uk (but obviously with interest). For instance I've been trying to get some 686 stuff and it's an absolute pain, because I've really only seen places that import it, where I'd prefer to try the stuff on etc.
Good luck! |

Well, the biggest "rider owned" snowboard brand is Burton. I think we've had that discussion before though.
