can anyone settle a small debate i got involved in earlier.

i maintain fakie and switch are two different things.

both involve riding backwards but.

fake is riding backwards but wityh your regular stance and body position

switch is riding backwards but with the stance of someone who rides goofy if your regular and reg if your goofy.

am i right? or am i wrong.

my friend debated that switch and fakie are the same thing

on skateboards they are different things... on snowboards its harder to distinguish so they don't bother.

Soooo... Fakie and switch in snowboarding are essentially the same thing.

In my opinion to truely ride a snowboard switch you would have to swap the bindings round. or have a twin with identical stances.

this is wrong also in skating fakie and switch a re different things fakie is riding backwards but doing the trick off the tail as you normally would and switch is doing everything opposite to how you normally would.

hmmmm ok

so. if your riding as normal. and you do an ollie. (off the tail)

you then swap to riding backwards.

do so a switch ollie you now need to pop it off what was the nose.

is that correct?

cool ok sorted. makes sense now.

as a skateboarder, the terms have definate meanings.

on a snowboard they seem much more flexible.

Yeah, same on a snowboard, different on a skateboard. We had this arguement a few months ago.

Technically you can't ride switch on a snowboard but never mind Laughing

precisely.. we could spend all day trying to decide whether someone had nollied into a trick or just done it off the tail as normal.... especially when it comes to the fact that a lot of people will not even really pop a spin they'll just carve and twist so no tail or nose was used as such...

I'm with you though dude coming from a skate background where everything can be analysed to the Nth.
