Hi All,
I've been riding once a week at Tamworth for 6 months and for 1 week in Switzerland. I've only ever used the Burton Cruzer 151 board. I've been thinking about buying a board and the nice man in TSA thought a 153 would be about right for my height (5'6") and weight (75KG).
There's not a lot of demo boards in at the moment so I thought I'd try the Cruzer 155 for a while to see how that felt.
I don't go v fast and haven't done anything other than general riding and a few v. small jumps.
How long should I try it for to get used to the longer length board?
Ta muchly for any advice. |

well when i'm indoors i ride a 153 and i'm 5'11" and 85KG's
on the mountains i ride 156
i'd say a 151 is fine for you...
but if your still unsure then get a 153 demo board and try it out! |

Since joining SCUK I have always been a bit surprised at the apparent trend by forum users to ride incredibly short boards for their weight. I don't get it! Is it that nobody rides powder and spends the day in the park or what?
I weigh 77kg and ride a 158 most of the time and ride a 162 for powder. I have always felt that these boards are at the short end for somebody of my weight.
Anyway, the best way to find out if a particular board is right for your weight is to check the manufacturers recommendations for that board. Then you'll know for sure.
And Robster. If you are 85kg and can ride a 156 in fresh pow then well done to you. Doesn't it destroy your back leg? |

| Well Wigsy how often do non season riders get to ride powder? Not so often it makes more sense to ride a shorter more easily movable board on peist because thats where the majority of people are most likely to be for there majority of the time. In saying that I have my 152 still palmer for powder but unless I was on a season it wouldnt see the light of day. |

yea it does seem to be thr trend that everyone is riding really short boards at the moment but then it was in the mid 90s aswell
jut whats in fashion i guess.
i rode big board one day and was amazed at how much fun it was having that extra weight underneath you. yea you cant spin to win but it makes straight lining crud and floaty 3s real fun. |

I weigh 90kg, ride a 159 indoors, never under a 164 on a mountain. Short boards serve a purpose but they're not going to do you any favours on the steeps, at high speed, or in the fluffy stuff.
I do have a secret though, one of these turned up the other day...
It's a massive 132cm long and it will only ever see the inside of a fridge. |

Hey Loki. Your'e right about powder riding opportunities . The point I was really trying to make was that I don't understand the benefits of buying a board built for somebody who is, for example, 80kg when they weigh 85-90kg. The board will probably feel quite sketchy, especially as the riders technique improves and with it his/her speed. It may even slow their rate of improvement because it is not responding properly.
Weasel. I just checked Burtons web site, they didn't have the tech stuff for the Cruzer, but they did for the Clash, another softish beginners stick. The 151 was recommended for riders between 41-64kg. I say choose the make of board and you want then check the tech spec and buy the length that the manufacturer recommends. They know best, surely. |

sling an email to the manufacturers.
I emailed burton a little while ago coz i was a bit confused with the board length options betwen the malolo and supermodel ( i told them i wanted to use it primarily in the soft stuff. with the malolo it was saying to size down 2-4cm from normal) i just told them my weight with all my riding gear on and how tall i was and they came back with a recomendation on the 154cm Malolo, so go figure.....ive had a play on longer boards and just couldnt control them as well!! |

| 5ft 7ins and 60kg I ride a 150 indoors and on dry and a 153 on the mountain. Although I am a girl! I always used 150 on the mountain too but found even flat out I couldn't keep up, so the slightly longer board has helped with that! |
