God I hope not - can you imagine the endless crappy videos (with nothing to do with snowboarding or extreme sports) some people would litter the forum with!?! It would be a nightmare. I think it's fine as it is...

i dont know why anyone would do that just makes it easier on forum to embed videos.

heres an example http://forums.sidewalkmag.com/showthrea ... p;page=172

just means you dotn have to open another page.

but then i am only one perso nand if no ones else sees the benefit then theres not much point.

andi said mpora links so it would just be briitish "extreme" sports.

i tihnk it would be good for SCUK to buld stronger links with mpora like whitelines and sidewalk have.

MPORA, Whitelines and Sidewalk are all owned by the same people - Factory Media, so they would encourage a bit of cross pollination.

As we've seen recently, the ability for people to post cr@p is ever present. Many work places will also block anything with video content and from our stats I *know* when most people visit the site Wink

Having said that we do have long term plans for people to be able to run their own galleries and post their own videos on here. For the moment, links are fine.

[I already run a video website in another life, but not sports related.]

Yeah, mpora and other video sites are blocked at my work with the result I can't open a lot of pages with embedded content - so that would be a big fat no to embedding videos on the forum from me.

I think we appreciate banning would be a problem, so we'd have to think carefully about doing this. If we had to decide between embedding videos and allowing more people to enjoy the site, we'd definitely go for the latter. No point in providing additional functionality and then reducing the amount of people who can access the site during their normal work hours Smile

yeah, most companies seem to have banned all the networking sites so your at risk from going that way, i guess having that part of the site completely separate from the forum may allow you to continue to talk crap during work hrs and look at pics/vids during the night.

can peeps with an mpora work ban see the mpora forum MPORA FORUM?? but no joining though........Razz

It all depends on how they're being banned through work filters. I'd imagine the mpora.com domain is being filtered, so it would include sub-domains - it's not filtered at my work (yet). Even if we have a video.snowboardclub.co.uk we could end up with all our domains getting on a "not-work-related" list and that would be bad. This would tend to happen just because companies would notice a huge amount of bandwidth being used from the domain, rather than a few people at a work place using the site for the stuff we currently provide. We could even hit the same problems when we introduce galleries. We certainly wouldn't want to get on any list. We could look at hosting all images on an unrelated domain, but if people see they're all be displayed on a particular site, we could end up in the same situation. Spoil sports.
