Post subject: vans encore boa system boots- painful!!!! help!

Hi everyone, just a quick question, i own a pair of vans encore boa system boots, bought them back in october last year, and they are a pain to wear literally!
Yeah the boa system is cool, but after about 10 mins with the boots on, the inside of my ankle bone, more my lead leg absoulety canes! so painful., and end up having to loosen my boots, which make sit harder to control ma board, but the pains still there. just wondering if anyone else had had this problem, and if so how to eleviate it? or simply buy some lace up boots instead. please help! any comments much appreciated.

Im not a fan of boas, when I tried them I found them either really loose or really tight and no in between and I had a similar problem to you, but I did have a mess with mine and I found that if I put the tongue of the inner boot on the outside istead of being tucked inside, or I put it inside but to one side and not central it didnt hurt as much.
But laces everytime for me |

I get the same after about the first hour of riding, but after having a little fiddle i cope with them.
I might try Oneloves idea tho sounds interesting, i think the dual Boas work a bit better.
BTW Venkmans Mistress? whered that come from? wasn't Venkman a Ghostbuster?  |

this is a classic BOA issue..it just means they dont fit you correctly.. your ankles are too big 
Vans BOAs are quite narrow around the ankle and the BOA can get really tight around it too...
BOAs are a bit like Flows..okay for beginners to make life easier but when you get into proper riding they fall short!
I had them for 2 years and had the same problem,. I just dealt with it..as I wanted to get my monies worth out of them
Now I have laces and dont have the problem at all |

I have the Encores too, got them about 2 months ago from Subvert in Chill Factore. I have a similar problem but it's down to having feet flatter than pans so I bought some superfeet to sort them out. Now I find it only hurts when I do them up too tight.
Just back off the Boas until you find a nice enough compromise. That's the great thing about them as you can tweak on the go. The Encores are a real flexible boot, I was making the mistake of really wrenching up the inner laces the keep my foot, it almost cut the blood supply off! |

I've got the Vans Omni, they've got the Boa system and I really like it. I was advised to buy a size smaller because they pad out quite a lot after a few days. So that was painful, but since then they have been fine. I find I have to stop and tighten them up every so often though. Do you reckon they're the right size?
Took me ages to find a pair that fit properly! |

well, boots are not fitting your feet, that is a problem... you need to find the pair that suits you.
Regarding BOA, you should better take the double boa, though the cable are really resistant, it often hapen that the "rings" where the boa go into are breaking.... Need to get my DC back for exchange! |

Same here. I've also got the Vans Encore's with the boa-system and i love them. But I always have to take them off and fiddle with them after 3 runs... They're usually OK after that tho. I think my problem is that i've got wide feet - so i'm probably over-tightening them round my ankles and they crush my feets. 
The twin-boas look like they might be a solution to this... but i only just got mine at xmas so i'm going to persevere for now.

I have 1 2007 Vans Encore right boot for sale!
The left one only lasted a few months after the stitching and leather on the upper toe of the left foot perished. May have been partly my fault as there is evidence of some scraping from my snowboard (e.g. when moving in queues), but still I wasn't impressed with the build quality.
I was happy with the boot itself though. I found the Boa system to be good, I just needed to leave it fairly loose, otherwise my feet would fall asleep.
I now have a pair of 2008 Saloman F24's which are very good (but I wouldn't say excellent). One of the main selling points for me was the rubber toes - which so far are not showing any signs of coming undone. The only downside with them is that if I just stand around, my toes get cold, as they have less padding (the Vans Encore always kept my tootsies nice and warm). |
