Hi, going on holiday with gf to New Zealand for 3weeks and going to be touring the South Island in a big campervan for 2weeks then planning on snowboarding for the last week.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice/opinions/info on the best place to go?
My girlfriend is learning to ski (she did it when she was younger and can't get the hang of riding a snowboard now so has reverted back to that) and is getting on fine at local dry slope and she had a shot on real snow up North and seems to be doing ok. I'm an intermediate boarder and feel quite confident on must runs, blacks are a bit tricky if they're full of skiiers who can't manage them and stop or turn every 2feet though! (this was what I found a month ago in Tignes, not a prejudice against them, it's not their fault they have no balance and need 2 poles to help them move DOWNHILL as GRAVITY is not enough!!!)
Looking for somewhere that would suit us both but ultimately looking for somewhere that's going to have guaranteed SNOW!!

WANAKA! = Snowpark Cardrona and Trebble Cone the best 3 places in NZ in one place. If i were to ever go back to NZ it's the only place i'd go, i wouldn't bother with Q Town or Christchurch. Not been the the North Island so can't really comment on that.

Would agree with that TC is good for what you are after (Snowpark probably isnt), but if you arent too serious about the riding I would base yourself in Queenstown, purely because it is one of the most fun towns on the planet. If there is snow The Remarks are pretty good and the back country at Coronet is quite interesting. Plus the park at the Remarks is decent for the size of the mountain. also the Wanaka mountains are only 45 mins drive away if you fancy trying them.
