How do guys n gals,
Looking for a bit of advice RE: seasons. I've been planning to do a season since I left uni last year (07) but still haven't sorted anything out. I've been working to get some cash saved up and my current contract finishes in Nov/Dec this year. I'm wondering if I've left it too late to sort out a job, accom etc. for the 08/09 season. I spoke to a couple of girls from Natives over the summer and they said that most people sort this kinda stuff out in May/Jun!!!
Could anyone let me know if I'm being unrealistic planning to do a season this winter?

Apply to lots of jobs on natives and see what happens! Crystal are certainly still running assessment centres  |

| Just get a job, 7 hours a day is enough time for me to snowboard. But yeah, loads of jobs still going. People get them in oct/november time and there's still an abundance then. Also just figure out what you wanna do, (I can vouch for chalet hosting, it's right good) and then apply to a load of comapnies, and at the end of the day the job is just a job so as long as you wanna ride you're gonna make it happen regardless of what you have to do fund it or whatever. |

| The only people that have jobs sorted that early are either those that need to apply for visas or returners. There are still loads of opportunities out there. The easiest way to sort everything at once is to apply to work for a tour operator. It also allows a massive amount of time on the mountain compared with many resort jobs. |

Thought so.
I was a rep for another company for 3 seasons and I got 6 days a week on the piste. Of course I was easily the greatest in France. |

Hi there.
Its certainly not too late to organise a job for the season although lots of companies will already have done the bulk of their recruiting.
Getting a chalet host job for winter is a great way to spend a season and means you don't even need to organise travel, accomodation and lift pass as your employer does all this for you.
We still have a few places left on our chalet cookery courses in October which take place in Tignes, France so you can squeeze in a few sessions on the glacier while your there! We have several reputable companies keen to recruit chalet hosts from us so drop me a line if you are interested or want more info !

Thanks guys! Your info's really appreciated. By the sounds of it I just need to get myself buried in the Natives website and apply for everything I can find.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for chalet hosting places as I've generally heard good things about doing that. I've read in a few places that they expect you to come up with meal plans etc. I'm pretty competent in the kitchen but that normally involves following recipes rather than coming up with my own dishes, do they expect some creativity with the menu?
Grill, thanks for the info. When you say apply to work for tour operators do you mean as a rep, or do they take general applications and find people specific roles later on? I've heard that TOs vary greatly, do you know of any to aim for/avoid?

yeah theres still loads of jobs avail for the forthcoming season.....
Type of job you go for can make a big difference to your season though.... Chalet host jobs can be one of the best paid jobs in resort and have known hosts that can survive all season just on their tips - saving their wages to use for a hol after the season.
You can apply to the larger companies like Mark Warner, Crystal etc....
