Cost: £450 ($585 Canada)
Year: 2007/8
The board is light weight, very quick, mid to stiff flex and has very good pop. Its a good all round mountain board from powder to piste (not tried it in the park). Not sure when they say the magne traction turns ice into powder to me it felt like any other board with edges.
The board is aimed at intermediate and advanced riders.
The only downside is the cost. |

| don't get me wrong the edge hold is very good when the slope is hard packed. |

Ah, is it worth going from a standard edged board to a magne traction one if upgrading though?
When i experience ice patches on my current board, i just let it slide until i can turn again, would be nice to have some control |

like any board sharper the edges when hitting ice the better. as they say there is 7 points of contact with magne traction and if the edge is sharp then it should be better. if you are going to buy a lib tech then get one with it.
i got the board for the board and not just for the magne traction. |

It hard to hunt down one of these babies as they are selling out fast!
I got mine (MTX TRS) in the summer so have only tested it out at Milton Keynes SnoZOne.... but I felt on fire on it!!! Sure it's not going to turn an amature rider into a pro but it will certainly give an intermediate rider more confidence!!!
It does feel like a super tuned board and the pop is great. Nice level of flex enaugh for tail presses etc.
From what i've read it helps to stop sketchin' out on ice patches too so perfect for Europe!
Off to test on La Grave offpiste section (Les Duex Alpes) in January.... will report back with my full review!!!
So far 10 out of 10 on indoor... stoked!

I've got the 07/08 Travis and the magnetraction seems dubious at first until you hear people moaning about icy patches on the slope and realise you've not really noticed them. It also seems to really help when stopping quickly on your heel edge. I notice it more when switching back to an average board with non-recently tuned edges.
However this year, I still found that on the real mountain shiny, solid, blueish looking ice that's been in the shade for months is still as scary  |

I've got a magne traction board and I think the tech makes a huge difference on ice. The reason I went for a MT board was because I hated ice so much but at Milton Keynes in the early part of the year I was one of the only snowboarders staing upright on the icy patches (and believe me it is not all down to any skill I may have) and also when away in Austria on some icy slopes it really gave confidence. I am not sure about the 'turns ice into powder' claim but it definately makes a huge difference.
I think as skada says you don't really know how much difference the board makes until you see others struggling on icy patches. |

I have a bananatraction tech Gnu Street  . Initial feelings after a session at Tamworth is that they have really good edge hold and grip like stink around the corner  . The banana may help too, as at the relatively slow speeds generated at the dome, the edge between the bindings is very firmly in contact with the icysnowyicy stuff !
For the first time at the dome, I was really able to get some carve on - although that's not really what I go there for. It was an eye opener.
Conclusion, MTX very good, BTX very very good !
Finding these babies could prove tricky tho'  . I have heard that there are some skate bananas (152s only, as 56s and 59s have already been and gone!) due into the country imminently. If you want one, find out who is getting them and put your name down. There won't be enough to satisfy demand, I'm sure  . |

I've got a Skate Banana 156 and seriously can't believe how good a board it is. It's the best board I've ever ridden.
The Banana camber makes riding so much fun - buttering moves are coming to me thick and fast and the carvability the banana gives the board adds yet another great dimension to this board. And the Magnatraction... as everybody else says makes the board hold and edge and you can really bank the carves over and you just know the board will hold the line. Yes. Yes. Yes! |

| I've got the Phoenix 159 and the thing is like a rocket. This is my first board though, before i was just riding crappy rental boards. Didn't catch an edge once which was amazing as i am pretty good at catching edges. I've only tried it out at MK snozone but going to give it a good run in in a couple of weeks. |

I've got a TRS BTX, amazing board. its great all over the mountain. mine's only a 154 but its still amazing in powder. the magne is great on ice and the flex is not too soft for riding super fast and not too stiff for jibbing.
I'd def recommend it, almost certainly the best board i've ever ridden. oh and i got it in canada fir $450CAD!!! |

| I got mine and demoed at MK with some unoin Contacs flipping gr8 board im a inter rider but felt like a wizard riding it. so much pop!! when i would do a grab on a hire board 9/10 times i would stack.... now 9/10 times i and every time thnx to the reverse camber and magni trac. im baist but i think its the best thing since sliced bread. (excuse old phrase) just bought some K2 auto's /09 cant wait to head down to MK again n try those bad boys out. i'd well recomend ANY1 to get one...... if u can find one that is. there going like hot cakes (excuse me again) £190 from E-bay babey!! from states tho a real paing in the ass to get across but i got it! |
