AS stated in a previous thread I am doing "Learn to board in a day" at Tamworth!

However after completing this day do you think it will enable me to go on the large slope?? on the begineers evenings!

I also used to skateboard so hoefully it may help....even though my fett at fixed down now!

Comments would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Glynn

Short answer... Yes.

The idea of these lessons is that they take you from not being able to snowboard at all, to being of a suitable level to ride unsupervised on the slope.

You'll probably still be a little unsteady, but you should be able to control your speed and link your turns. Your skateboarding should help a little too, it did for my friend anyways.

im now contemplating this "learn to board in a day" lesson as after failing to pass a level 1, one hour just isnt long enough to get the hang of balance and direction.

so, id hope after 8 hours something would stick.

Yep defo, you actually learn on the large slope and by the end the instructors will want to see you coming down from the top.

Skateboarding won't help much at first, apart from for balance maybe. (I use to skate to, you won't actually go straight on the snowboard for a good few hours.) The basics are totally different. Once you start to move onto more freestyle and jib tricks on a box I found skateboarding helped me pick that up pretty quick. Probably because the balance while sliding on a box in kinda similar. I did the day course then a few 2 hour sessions in the day with my uni. Now i just go to the evening sessions where its 3 hours for £29. Good amount of time and there is always a freestyle obstacle out. Normally a jib box and kicker for when you feel like moving up onto them. If you go on on Friday there is also normally some coaches out on the slope who will help you.

I did the board in a day course last year. I had been skiing for about 12 years but never skated.

You learn lots in the day and before it was out I was coming down from the top of the main slope at MK. I got signed off for levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and parts of 5.

After this you will still be a bit shaky and probably fall quite a bit on the main slope but you will know what to do and it is just a matter of putting in the hours and practicing.

These levels that you speak of.... Are they defined anywhere or do they vary from slope to slope? Confused
