Post subject: Ability required for MK Sno!Academy / freestyle night  PostPosted: Apr 02, 2008 - 02:08 PM

Hi all - my first post, woohoo Smile

Anyway, my question is: What standard is required for a sno!academy coaching session? It says must be able to confidently link turns - which could be interpreted in different ways.

I've completed my lessons and had 1 week boarding in Andorra ( with lessons ). I'm confident riding forwards, although I know my technique needs some work ( twisting my body and throwing my arms about ). I've tried jumping off some small moguls / kickers and I'm learning to ride switch but turns still feel scary!

Would I be out of my depth going along to a freestyle night at MK?

Also, is it possible just to ride and avoid the rails and jumps if you don't want to do them ( I'm planning to go with some friends and we're of differing abilities ).

Thanks for your help!

A freestyle night at MK is pretty much like a normal night but with a few things on the slope. Some people may find it a bit intimidating at first but everyone i've ever met riding at MK is lovely and friendly!

If you're already learning switch then i don't think you'd be out of your depth at all. The sno!academy i think just means, if you can meet recreational standard. You don't have to hit the rails and stuff but the standard of riding is a little bit higher than a normal recreational session which makes it easier to progress.

You'll be fine for the Thursday night session. As Gina said you don't have to hit the toys, and the guys there that coach are a good bunch and will happily offer hints and tips.
