We are intending to go to Wanaka for 2009 - but I can see quite a few cheaer properties in Lake Hawea for rent -

How far away is Lake Hawea from Wanaka and the mountain?

Is it a nice place to stay?

Im guessing a car would be vital? Anyone got any advice??

Thanks

i lived in hawea this past season its about a 15 minite drive form wanaka 40m mins to cardrona.

rent is cheap its is a small village with nothing to do but it worked for us.

we had one TV chanel.
Views are stuning.
if we wanted to go out in wanaka just needed a designated driver. we didnt go out to much.

so if your going to snowboard then its a sweet place if your going to party then probably not worth it.
