Post subject: The Poma's at CFe are killing My Feet!

Hi All,
Whenever I use the poma's at CFe I get a really bad pain in my leading foot. I'm using a 15 degree angle but I feel like it's twisting my foot too much and I end up with a load of pain down the outside of my foot. This problem is made worse by the fact that I suffered collapsed arches during a trip to Chamonix in Jan and now have to wear special insoles. These give me arch support so that at least now I can stand on my board without being in pain but I really suffer when using the lifts.
Does anyone else get a similar pain when using poma's or know if I can do something different? I almost want a different stance for riding the lift or something.

| sorry not to answer your question but i was wondering where you got the insoles from as i have a problem with collapsed arches as well |

| I do, and I solve it with moderate degrees of success by loosening my leading foot bindings, and bringing my trailing foot so it butts up against my leading binding. Makes corrective steerign a bit tricky, but stops the pain. |

I think you just have to get used to it..
I noticed that after I hadn't been riding for a month or two that my feet hurt going up the poma's..
Now i'm back to weekly riding it's fine..
How often do u ride? |

I saw a private podiatrist, still getting treatment now but it's quite expensive. It's worth doing though if you have the money as hopefully I'll be able to enjoy my next holiday a bit more (last one was a write-off). |

Not often enough. Just getting back into it now after my injury last season. Can I ask how you afford weekly riding, I'm guessing you haven't got a mortgage  |

Erm, I usually pay 1hr at Cas, I live fairly local, and then I just do as much as I can b4 I get kicked off..  |

Try changing your angles. I ride at +21 -18 i used to ride at +15 but found the pain in my leg and particularly my left knee was too much. I fiddled around with my angles and stance width loads and now I've found what works for me and the soreness from the lifts is gone.
Not suggesting these angles will suit you but I spent a lot of time tweaking up and down and found these. Only advice when changing angles is make the changes a degree at a time and keep in mind that you need to give angle changes a chance. Changes take time for your foot/leg/knees to get used to so don't write a change off straight away if it doesn't feel better instantly. |

Do you go up the fast lift? I was using the slow one the other day and it started hurting..  |

| Tam's my favourite of the indoor places but it's an arse to get to. Cas is even further I think although I did have my first snowboard lessons there (ages ago...). |

| i get occasionally. find if i let it hurt, take a 2 min break n re tie my boots it goes away completly, worked for days too up in the scottish hills on the rocket pomas! |
