I spent a little bit of time working my buns off to get money to travel and spent much less time than i did (from once/twice a week to not once in 2 1/2 months) riding and now i'm having to relearn a few of my old safety tricks.
Reckon its a confidence thing? Like, i have to really think hard to nollie frontflip out of kickers now without rotating, i think its a fear of not having done it for a while..Thing. And when i got to the park for the first time this season my frontside was ever so sliiiightly lacking compared to backside, and its normally the other way around. ALthough maybe it was just getting on snow from dry ski..
Hmmm..
WHATEVER IT IS - has anyone lost anything out of the trick bag that they really thought they'd never lose? And how did you fix it? |

I find I lose anything, if I don't keep practicising it. These days I find it hard to even stay at the same level let alone progress. I also have a f/s - b/s issue. I've improved my f/s rotation quite a lot recently, but now I find I'm having trouble completing my b/s.
I don't know anyway of getting over this than other than more practice. |

I had a lot of time out due to injury but got back everything I "lost" and more after taking it back to the basic stuff on small toys and relearning it.
Pretty hard coming back from inury because you're even more scared of hurting yourself again, and as a girl you have even more fear than guys.
Persistance is the key here for sure |

| Well i spent 10 years filling my trick bag, and seem to have spent the last 10 emptying it . . . thing is most of the tricks i lost were the ones i thought i needed to do, and the ones i can still do are the tricks i have fun doing . . . when its a sh!t day i sometimes go to the park and set myself a challenge to re-learn stuff, and i find that as long as you can still visualise the trick you can usually get it back - i tried to re-learn all 4 fives recently cos all i really do these days five wise is is a cab five, and it took about 3 hours in the park to get em back, though i was glad i had my butt pads and helmet on and i think the stlye police would have been pretty amused at some of my efforts! |

| I wouldnt Say Confidence...More Practice..I Mean its easier to visualise how your going to do the trick with practice because you know it inside out,but when you havent practiced in a while you lose sight of how you did the trick in the first place.... |

Thanks for the replies. I guess its the pros fault! They make it look like they never lose anything haha.
Can you say that you can 'do' something when you haven't done it for a while? Blended - reckon you could still claim to do all 5s even though if you got put on the spot it might turn out differently?
Its a weird feeling losing something. I used to lose more than i gained in skateboarding and thats why i stopped ! |

No your right i would never still claim to be able to do all the fives - there are some tricks i do pretty much daily, e.g back 1's front 3's cab 5's . . but beyond that most tricks these days are ones i can attempt with only a 50/50 chance of not landing on my face! However it was nice to know that if i put my mind to it i could still learn/re-learn some tricks. |

| I found that all of a sudden I couldn't remember how to do fs 3's but I could do cab 5's... how does that work? I can do them again now but all the time it feels like I take 2 steps forward and 1 step back progression wise. Frustrating and painful! |

| Yeah, once i get something i have it for ages. But then occasionally i hit a wall - i've hit about 4 serious ones since i've been riding, and it makes certain things take 10 steps back and you have to re learn them. And then you dont re-learn them as well as you had them the first time and urgh. I'm really frightened about being here inthe summer :p I don't want to lose anything else ! |
