I have a pair of solomon F20's which kill my toes after a while. I had them fitted in the shop at MK. after a few hours my toes are killing me and are freezing cold. this happens even if im walking or riding. Could it be that the boots are slightly too small? I have a burton boots, same size and they are bril, cant fault em.

it may be a wrong size as salomon boots are slim fitting boots

I don't find Salomon to be any more slim fitting than other brands.

Remember though, if you take a UK9 (for example) in Burton/Vans/DC/32, you need a UK9.5 in Salomon to get the same physical size (28.0cm/US10).

Always look for the US or Mondo (27.5 or 275, etc) sizing when buying boots as this is a constant between brands. UK sizes vary.

General rule of, er, thumb re: toes. Stand up and your toes should scuff the end if you wiggle them. Get into your riding position and this should stop.

I had exactly the same issue with Salomon boots about five years ago, they were the right size (a shop fit at least) - one day I was in so much pain on a trip to whilster I just went and bought some Burton Driver-X boots & they changed my life..........well, you know.....actually, they did. In 20 odd years of riding I had never had burton boots up until that point............boy was I missing out. I do think what you're experiencing is a size issue but it may not be an obvious one. Do you get any numbness over your forefoot? There's a vein that runs over the top of your foot (well there's a bunch of em i guess) but if that's got a applied pressure from your boot and then your binding clamping it down.........& it doesn't have to be 'tight' as such, it just to be getting you in the wrong place (everyone's feet are different) - that's what I found to cause cold & discomfort.

I think on a general note (which isn't a great guide) Burton boots tend to be a bit more slushy sometimes and I've not had any pain or coldness in them - it's not about the brand tho, it's about spending enough time in the store umming and arrring and making sure what you're buying is right & that takes time.

The other huge thing to consider is SOCKS - some merino wool socks (changed fairly regularly!!....ish) make a big difference.

I rode for a season with a pair of Vans which seemed to fit perfectly in the shop but always ended the day in pain with cold feet. I thought for a while it was just the stresses of a days riding leading to tired and cramping feet but then decided to try a different pair (Burton's) to see what happened. Massive improvement, feel really comfortable, warm and cosy with no cramps!

The guy in the second shop where I bought the Burton's told me they suited a wider foot better than the Vans and recommended them.

The problem with mine I think is that they were so 'nearly' right that the only way to realise they were wrong was after a full day on the mountain.

supposedly the Fusion series of salamon boots are a narrower footprint, than some other makes and the other line of boots salamon do. Vans are supposed to be slightly wider. I've never tried Vans or the other salamons though

someone said they ended the day with cold feet?? how??! feet roast in snowboard boots! yeah even if your feet are bit wet they still warm Shocked

I think the cold feet come from too tight a boot and the blood not circulating as it should.

yikes! you must have them done up really tight! not cosy and snug = not good. Yeah cramps would prob be from loose boots.

I have exactly the same problem with my Salomon's too ... they fit fine, my toe scuffs the end when I stand, they extremely comfy for a short while and then my big toe begins to hurts and it finally gets so bad that I have to stop. I'm not sure if it's just that the boot across the top of the toe is quite hard, or whether I do something weird with my toes when I'm riding!!

They are very slim fit though and I definately had to go up a boot size from normal.

I may have to ditch them and buy some Burtons before I actually go out on the slopes for real again, because that's going to be a week of murderous pain!

Had f22s for whole of last season, best boots ive had yet. Boots are really personal, everyone has different shaped feet just trial and error to find which brand fits you the best. They can fit okay in the shop but change on snow and ofc packing out etc. Best thing is proberly buy em, wear them indoors for a day or so I know its not the same as riding but once you've been on snow they normally get pissy with refunds.

You might find the boots pad out a bit. My Tm Two's padded out to about a half a shoe size bigger.

There's a good chance you're over-tightening your boots. If you're cutting off the circulation to your feet it's no wonder they're cold.
