A few of us are off to Saalbach in mid January. We've been boarding loads of times before but we always stick to the pistes. However, I've always liked the look of getting into the powder. We've no experience of this so ideally we'd like to hire some sort of guide for half a day or so, so as we can follow him and he knows where to go to avoid trouble etc.. Anyone done this kind of thing? Should I try and book something now or wait until we get there?
Thanks
Oz.

Cheers guys, sounds like the same guys you both posted? I think the three day course is a bit overkill since we're sadly only there for 4 days in total! Not all of us are at the right level so a few of us were hoping to go off piste for an afternoon or something. Perhaps Backcountry was the wrong term to use and overstating our ambition! I'll try those guys though, and see if they do a small guided tour. Thanks!
