Has anyone here been to St Anton, Austria? If so, what did you think of it?

By the way, is there a website that gives a list of snowboarding locations and reviews? If not, I might be forced to make one! Smile

St Anton rocks! Very Happy

Might be going there myself, my dad's driving over there this year and the hotel is owned my family friends.

The blues are more red, the reds are a bit black and the off piste is fantastic.

Mountain cafes and nightlife is also very good but nearest park is lech, same ski pass though,

annieredding - I posted just after you and missed your message until I checked just now Smile

Thanks for the info. Do you know what the snow has been like in previous years in early December?

Last year it was sh1t. Was there for X Mas and New Year, if there wasnt cannons there would be no snow. But last year was a freak one off and should be super sweet again this season, it's usually great for powder. Rendl over the other side is nice if you want to get away, lovely red run down the back that brings back many happy memories Smile

Last year was the same as everywhere in Austria during early december, not a lot of snow. This year s looking better, higher resorts in austria have already had an absolute ton of snow. Check out the pictures below from the 21st of October.

Ah kieron you're making me miss the place! I wanna go back!

I went year before last, loads and loads of snow, definitley need to go back as it's very much an intemediate resort and I wasn't quite up to it, have greatly improved since then though Smile

Just to confirm what the above people have posted - it's great. Better than great, it's brilliant.

It is pretty steep, so not that good for beginners, but the off piste is superb and the nightlife is banging (although it wouldn't be the cheapest resort in the world).

You can't beat the Moosewirt or the Krazy Kangaruh for proper European style cheesy apres-ski (get to the Moose for about 3.20pm, get a table and watch the carnage unfold...). My memories of late night activity are a little hazy but I think Kandahar Bar (?) was pretty lively and went on late, and Scotty's was a laugh to warm the evening up a bit...

If you want a good off piste guide I've been with Piste to Powder a couple of times - really friendly people, and always come out for a few beers with you after a proper days boarding in the deep stuff. If the conditions allow it, get them to take you off the back of the Vallugabahn 2 - amazing.

Am taking 24 of my mates there first week of March - can't wait to get back...

Enjoy.

Just to add.....

Awesome place - did a fly drive thingy - flew Ryanair to Friedrichshafen, then hired a car and drove to St Anton. Awesome place. Sorry said that twice. HAving a car was dead handy too cos could drive round the resorts. The best park was at Lech, but there was also one at the Rendl area - opposite the village and main ski area of St Anton. Found some amazing powder just underneath the main cable car at Zurs, and this was a coupla days after any snow.

Also Stuben and Sonnenkopf were amazing little places as well with less crowds, and all included in the ticket!
