dont think you will ahve probs with snow up there.
Dont think the terrain is all that challenging, but you'll be up inside the arctic circle which will be amazing with the northern lights and scandi people (always a big plus as they are probably the most accomodating people anywhere in the world).
I was researching it yesterday for summer boarding, but its not that long of a season suprisingly.
just watch out for the russians... |

Don't know much, but here is the piste map!
http://www.yllas.fi/?deptid=8980
I think it's a typical Tuunturi (Or something like that), which I think (I reckon I read this somewhere once!) is a typically Finnish hill that is a smallish rounded hill on a large plateau, rather than a sort of Alpine mountain! |

Actually, it's spelt tunturi, and is similar in meaning to the English word "Fell" as in the type of hill.
In fact if you look up wikipedia and type in tunturi this is what it comes up with, and it actually has a photo of Yllas in the summer!

Can you tell I'm a bit bored at work today! |

| went to yllas in 05 they had a record season for snowfall no queues ,snowed every day , met some great people, if staying at the akas hotel there is a nightclub (with some shady locals who are permantly pissed) bar shuts at 6am you will have a grat time, plenty of off piste if you like hiking, and theres a new gondola this season, so plenty to do.. have fun |

| I am going to be staying in the Hotel Levitunturi. Booked with Inghams, maybe not the cheapest in the world at £1300 for me and the missus but this includes lift passes, some lessons for me and beginners ski tuition and equipment hire for her. Really looking forward to going, want to see the Northern Lights and go MENTAL on a snowmobile:) |
