| Funnily enough I saw a Snowboard in my local TK Maxx on Sunday, unbranded size 145ish with a set of ropey bindings and the base quite damaged due to transit for £180 I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole personally, but if they did get quality boards in would take a look if they were cheaper than any of the local shops. |

some brave words above..screw Tk etc, but can you honestly say, if for example TK had Burton, K2, Ride boards etc at 50% off, you wouldn't take a look. Yes local shops work hard for their money, but so do i. In a market of overpriced items, especially in the UK, i wouldn't loose any sleep at night buying from TK.
Sure I would take a look, and be sorely tempted by it, but at the end of the day I would rather support the local snowboard shop as they started selling snowboard gear, not only to make money, but to help along the UK Snowboard scene, which imo is great! TK, however, are only selling it to make some moneyzzz. |

i have bought off ebay shops particularly like magic toast and bucks boarding and ebay individuals selling their last seasons stuff. Is all just a recycling thing.
But TK max just doesnt sit right with me. But at the end of the day people want to ride, if they have to look for cheaper options than the latest burton (shudder) jacket then thats what they should do.
Its what we all want, more time on the snow and less time arguing on here |

I Don't want to be argumentative for the sake of it, But hey its a forum, argue today, snowboard tomorrow
I'm not suggesting we all sell our souls to the big corporations. But It's naive to think that all local shops are all singing and all dancing, there a
business too. Some, but not all, sales staff will push the premium brand stuff, and while a friendly local shop with helpful honest staff is infinitely better than a
large Corporation like TK max, some people just can't afford the prices. I would advocate checking the local shop first to see what they can do for you, but
if shopping at TK means you can afford to enjoy snowboarding, hell, why not? |

Im the TECHNINE sales and maketing guy for this season, we will never have TECHNINE boards in TK MAXX I promise !
What you get in TK MAXX is all the crap that distributors and companies cant sell to snowboard stores, and the decent stuff gets sold through retailers,
So you maybe able to get a FORUM board from TK MAXX, but it will be the sh1t they couldnt sell to snowboard stores, and the snowboard stores know what to buy because they ride.
If you want to ride on the crap out of TK MAXX, then you will ride crap, if you want progress and get to a good level, go and sit with you local independent and get something that will suit you and help you progress.
A perfect example is DC boots, they can't sell them anywhere because there too big, too chunky and like plaster casts that dont fit all bidnings, so there biggest customer this season is TK MAXX (trust me I have a very good friend who works for DC)
Go in any TK MAXX and just look at the sh1t they have on the shelves, its all crap stock that retailers wouldnt touch.
I used to work with SECTION and that went pop this season, and they cleared all thier faulty goods through TJ MAXX in the US and some of it ended up here, but if you bought any of it, the fits were bad, the zips bust easily and the seems come un done,
So a 40 quid pair of snowpants that dont work, is 40 quid wasted when you could of paid 100 quid in a retailer for a pair of pants that would last you holiday and the next, and next etc etc
If you want buy from TK MAXX then thats your deal,
but remember you get what you pay for and brands sell to TK MAXX for a reason, to clear their sh1t ! |

| advice from your local shop is invaluable afterall they are most of the time real snowboarders. However if two shops were selling the same thing with one cheaper than the other then i would go with the cheaper option, thats just how business works. I like local board shops coz they tend to sell stuff you cant really get in any of the big places. |

absolutely right. I'm glad I paid the best part of £150 for my boots out of a proper board shop. i'm not giving in to these big corporations, the same shops on every high street, the globalisation of dumbed down product for a mass market. I want local, quality... I don't want any bog standard over priced boot stitched together in some far east sweat shop for pennies while the corporate bods line thier pockets with my wad!
Hmmm.... DC... all american boot... made in China.

Lovin this thread! Can you imagine the state boards would be in if TK Maxx did sell decent ones?
They'd look like they'd done a couple of rental seasons before they'd even left the shop! And there'd be a nice hole in the nose where they'd punch the security tag!
You'd probably find them in random places like the Homewares section as cunning shoppers hid them there whilst they made their minds up. Wrong. Very wrong. |

Your wrong .... well to a fashion as far as I know. All Burton boards are made in Vermont, Canadaaaah and Austria. The higher end boards are made in the BMC in Burlington, Vermont.
As far as I know there was instances of Chinese OEMs having pressed Buton boards in the past for big box retailers in the US, using old moulds. They did a version of the Indie which has been discontinued for a while ... never saw them in the flesh though ... so who really knows.
Aren't K2 lower end boards mostly made in China??? I also heard that GNU were having a low end board pressed in China, kinda ironic with Mervin's 'Manufactured near Canada' slogan |
