So, after spending a mind-numbingly stupid amount of cash on a Palmer Crown 164 18 months ago, I killed it in Austria (Festival of Snow-bumming) in the last week of the season, dang.
Not surprisingly Palmer are refusing to warranty it. I know it's repairable but that's not the point, the board has ruined my relationship with it by not being hard enough, and I would never trust it enough to go flat out on it again.
Bearing in mind I liked the board, although maybe it was a tad too stiff for anything but hell-for leather riding, which ridiculously expensive board should I go for next? I obviously need something sturdy so I was thinking Never Summer, probably the Titan, or a Nidecker Megalight, or K2 Recon, or, or, or, or.... Freeride boards, suggest at will. |

I cant see anything wrong with it...
just a little scoop out of the sidewall?
nothing drastic, just ride it. |

| It's delamintaing for about 5 inches from where the red and black core meets, where the impact is. Stupid SCUK won't let me put a decent picture up because of the size. TRust me, there's plenty of space to run a waterfall in to the core. |

| This isn't the point, I know it's repairable, but I can also con myslef in to believing I need a new board. |

| ROBster is right, super glue, and clamp it. Make sure you've put it in the airing cupboard to dry the core out first or you'll seal in the dampness. And use wooden battons to spread the load when you clamp it, or you may leave an imprint of your clamp on the board. Almost all my snowboards are held together with superglue now (including the bases) |

Ok I get it, I'll bow to peer pressure and not buy myself a new board then. Dammit!
Cheers for the help though, you've put my mind at ease about the repair and its simplicity, much appreciated. |

rachie - that's the idea!
Option is an option, my mate has been abusing his Redline 163 for years and it just will not die, and he's 6'5" and weighs about 17.5 stone. Hmmm...
Matt - How do you rate the Vinson? I know it's not your kind of board but have you ridden it? |

You never need an excuse to buy a new board, well at least i dont, the fact that i dont yet have the one i want to buy is usually good enough!
Palmers are about as strong as it gets, i would just get whatever floats yer boat and ride it till you need a new deck . . |

As a Palmer owner myself, I find all this talk of ‘bodging-up’ a Crown really rather offensive! For God’s sake, would you nip down to Halfords for a hammer and some spray paint if you dinged the Ferrari?! Philistines…..
No……a credit card'll fix this, or a second mortgage for another Crown, but either way remember you’ve been working very hard so you deserve a nice new board... |

Im yet to ride the vinson. Sure it will be perfect for powder shredding.
If you can hang around until 07/08 season stuff comes out try get hold of the vinson ltd. The graphic is HOT. |

A reputable shop will be doing the repairs on my board, don't worry.
Matt - No chance of seeing this graphic for a while then?
Going to Breckenridge next Christmas/New Year so I'll check out the new stuff out there. I've been thinking about a NS for a while, but I will try anything I can get hold of out there. |
