Could someone please tell me how you do a 180 off a kicker?? i keep trying but get to bout 90 degrees and land resulting in a face full of snow.
is it best to approach the jump with your weaker foot forward, i.e if i'm right foot forward approach with my left foot forward so its more natural to turn mid air and easier to land?? or is that a load of bollocks?!
cheers. |

| It's a personal preference really, but the most important thing is that you commit to it, and make sure you are comfortable riding switch so your landing/take off will be a bit easier. |

It sounds like you are donig frontside 180. When I started doing them I swung my back arm round which would bring you shoulders round to get the last bit.
I'm sure someone else knows better, but it worked for me. |

like tom says, you need to be comfortable riding switch a bit. also do them on the flat before taking them to a kicker. like tom also said, there are 4 different 180s- frontside, backside, cab (switch frontside) and switch backside. The first I learnt was the frontside, which it sounds like you are trying- for you (right foot forward), this would be a clockwise spin. for left foot forward, this is the opposite. whether you do them cab or normal is up to you but either way you have to ride some switch- depends whether you are more comfortable riding up to the kicker in control or landing and riding out! some people may find it easier to rotate from a switch position and landing regular due to reverting being quite a natural movement.
as for the stalling at 90 degrees- when if first started learning them, this happened to me quite a lot (and sometimes still does!). remember your legs will follow your head and shoulders in the spin, hence what les mentioned about commiting to it- when i pop i try to punch an invisible target in front of my navel. it can sometimes feel quite natural to open up your shoulders at 90 degrees and end up stalling, rather than starting to turn them away again, because you have a good view to the landing! when you get a bit better on these, you can save yourself by shiftying.
if you are spinning frontside and getting a face full of snow, maybe your weight is all off too. remember to keep yourself centered and low over your board riding in, with a slight bias on your heel edge on take off, especially on a smaller jump or on the flat.
im pretty crap at them myself to be honest but i hope this has helped a bit. |

Would actully say try it with a bias on toes with you take off... its not a big rotation so dont really need to windup / carve into it. I personally find them alot easier off toes fs, give it a go, if its not for you fair enough but worth a try. |

Ive been trying to do some 180s on flat a few times at chillfactor but it cant seem to get enough air to complete the spin. i can ride swicth fairly comfortably so thats not a problem. do i need to pop off the board or anything?

I ride goofy and I did my first 180's back side, make sure you can do them on the slope first and then try the kicker.
Also I find keeping almost as low as you can on approach helps and then just commit to spinning all the way round |
